I’m rummaging around in archives for photographs of radio use which - while mainly boring - sometimes produces gems like this.

I would have even accepted Derrida’s garrulous discourse - but HEIDEGGER?

I understand the argument that much is lost in their translation, but his works read like they were translated by a man yelling the original German lectures - from inside a wind turbine - to a Frenchman (on the moon) who is trying to LIPREAD HIM and happens to know only a handful of English words, three of which are variations of the word ‘thing’

I look into the eyes of children - now rendered pure by not having been subjected to Heidegger - and I WEEP FOR WHAT I HAVE LOST 

oh truly did folly rode wildly on the tiger of youth - I did not see my pre-Heidegger days for the gift that they were

1. The history of urban gardening in Australia 

PROS: I enjoy it. It’s a less common choice for applicants, so it would stand out from the rest. It’s local aspect might endear me to some kind of job opportunity?

CONS: Could get tired of it quickly. Restrictive in its scope.

2. A social history of the Age of Sail

PROS: Definitely the area of history that I know the most about. Plenty of options for a topic. Probably the era i’m most interested in. 

CONS: Not local, would probably have difficulty finding a mentor for it. A topic which is common, not sure what ‘new’ information my research would reveal. Maybe too broad also. 

3. Science Fiction’s portrayal or utopias/dystopias and what they reveal

PROS: I know a lot on the topic; I know for a fact that the head of the history department would volunteer to be my mentor. Would get to do a joint honours in english too (very desirable, double the choice in classes)
