How I mixed different styles to still look unified in our eclectic dining room seating plan.
Using Braided Rugs To Define a Space Inside The Home
One of the many advantages of using a braided rug inside the home is that it allows homeowners to define certain areas. For instance, it's not uncommon for modern-day homes to feature an open floor plant with the dining room and/or kitchen connected to the living room. In order to achieve an attractive, functional home decor, you need to define the connecting areas. Rather than building a wall to physically separate the areas, you can use decorative items like braided rugs to achieve a similar outcome.
Defining the living room with a braided rug is a relatively easy and straightforward process. Most homeowners choose to place their braided rug directly in front of their furniture arrangement. Doing so creates will protect the flooring from high-traffic damage, and it will define the area. The key thing to remember is that you want to use a braided rug that flows with the shape of your furniture arrangement. If you have a circle or crescent-shaped furniture arrangement in your living room, then perhaps you should choose a circular-shaped braided rug. On the other hand, a rectangular-shaped braided rug is a better choice for L-shaped furniture arrangements.
You can also define the space of an open dining room using a braided rug. Unlike the living room, however, you'll want to place the rug directly underneath your furniture. Assuming you have a dining table set up in your dining room, placing a braided rug in a similar shape and style directly underneath will help to define the space. When choosing a braided rug for the dining room, choose an appropriate shape and size that's relative the your dining table. This will allow for a more cohesive appearance that naturally flows with the rest of your dining room decor.
Yet another areas where braided rugs are commonly used to define spaces is a the foyer (AKA entryway). Since most modern-day homes contain an open foyer that connects to other parts of the house, homeowners need to define this area so it doesn't drown out the decor. Placing a small table or desk along with an antique lamp in the foyer is one step in the right direction. You can then complete the look of your foyer by finishing it off with an attractive braided rug.
These are just a few examples of how braided rugs can be used to define spaces inside the home. Play around with your braided rug to see what works and what doesn't.
