When Ignis yells, Noctis jumps out of his skin. It’s probably luck that he didn’t either warp out—fail to, rather—or end up on the ground when he jolts and places enough weight on his bad leg that he’s stumbling backwards in an attempt to get away from what he now realizes is his comrade and his damn recipe exclamations.

Their time in Altissia had been nothing short of incredible, while it was stressful, it was most definitely something Prompto hadn’t expected, each moment brought something new and incredible - it made Prompto realize just how far they’d come in this journey. This had been their original goal, the turning point of their expedition, the point at which Noct was supposed to see Lady Lunafreya again.

So where did it all go wrong?

With the Leviathan, he supposed. The gigantic god crashing in from the waters surrounding Altissia and making the countries most beautiful attribute become it’s demise. It was chaotic, and messy, he wasn’t sure when they’d all gotten separated from each other, much less how they ended up finding one another in the end. He and Gladio running up to the two limp bodies strewn across the ground, fear struck home in their hearts at the sight. 

Prompto was a mess, unsure which they should address first, his best friend, the Prince who’s breathing was so slow, his body strewn out face down on the soaked pavement; or his fellow retainer, someone he looked up to and admired, whose injuries were beyond the scope of anything Prompto had seen before. Just what the hell happened?

Ultimately, it was decided for Gladio to carry Noct, and Prompto to assist Ignis as they made their way to the nearest shelter, somewhere they could rest even if it was just for a little bit.

The whispered words were not lost to Prompto, despite the spiral of anxiety he found himself in - sure, all of them had received countless injuries numerous times, but none of it were like this. Ignis was blinded by his actions, whatever those truly were, and whether or not that was complete and total blindness or just partially, they couldn’t be sure.

“IIIII can tell,” Prompto laughed, a hand raising for a moment to cover the smile on his face as he looked over the blades that seemed to take up most of the space in the trunk of the regalia. “’s that why there’s ... definitely a normal amount of ‘em?”

"I - Well -" Prompto pursed his lips, going from Ignis' stern gaze to the item wrapped in Prompto's hand. Truth be told, NO - he didn't really need a new lens for his camera, the pictures he's been taking are good ones, for sure, definitely making it so those memories weren't going anywhere. And it wasn't like he wasn't taking excellent care of the one he had, but -

"It was always good to have an extra ... right?" Given the fact that they fought a lot and Prompto didn't always have time to drop his camera into the Regalia, if something happened to his lens, then he'd be without it. Need, was a strong word, to be sure, but want in case of emergency? Yes.

"Please?"
