It's truly a superpower to go to events alone. I've went to four 30+ Pride events this week and even though it's been a slightly nerve-wracking experience attending alone, my FOMO and the promise I made to myself to attend every 30+ event this week (as a way to "micro-dose" attending lgbtq+ social functions alone) has strongly outweighed and overpowered my discomfort.
But I'm so glad I have challenged myself to attend the events, especially the one from last night: A night on a pier at the harbor. This event was one I was extremely on the fence with attending, but decided an hour or so before the event started to go. I bought a drink, complimented a few people, got a number from a pretty cool woman, danced to all the songs from my era, including Baltimore Club Music, and I loved the outfit I wore.
There's one last 30+ Pride event on Sunday and even though I work, I still may attend and stay for at least an hour before I go in. If I do attend the final event, this is going to be interesting.
I love seeing Black sapphic couples that are both masculine-aligned. Even though I am feminine-aligned with a more gender-neutral appearance, seeing two masculine-aligned folks loving on each other is such a beautiful, wholesome thing. It also gives me the optimism and affirmation that I will cross paths and fall in love with the person who will love me for exactly the way I show up and present myself to them, to the world, and to myself sincerely.

I bought the vinyl, Nina Simone, At Town Hall a few recent months ago. I finally listened to it yesterday and played the whole album twice. It was hauntingly beautiful. I felt like I was transported to the 1950s when it was first recorded. As if I was in the sitting in the audience of the concert hall when Nina performed.
Right after, I then played the album on Spotify. I knew once the album ended other songs by her would subsequently play right after. I went right to sleep listening to At Town Hall.
Little did I know, her birthday is today. I was not aware. Coincidence, phenomenon, or spiritual calling. I don't know. Just right on time.
