@laliboiofficial - Emonti (Full Vocal Version) Laliboi; the legendary isiXhosa rapper and multi-instrumentalist is definitely a force to be reckoned with , just listen to the song ‘Emonti’ and you’ll immediately wonder where you were in 2019 when he released his solo album titled ‘Siyangaphi’. ‘Emonti’ was released as single with two other variations of the same song, that being an Instrumental and a Remix done by ‘AC La Clim’. The Full Vocal Version is in my opinion one of the greatest songs I’ve heard in ages. This masterpiece starts off with an isiXhosa chant that is reminiscent of the folk music we grew up on sung by aboMkhulu noGogo bethu in the villages, we then get to hear the legendary ‘Spoek Mathambo’ on the beat as it slowly morphs into an eclectic sound that fuses nostalgic elements of Kwaito, Hip-Hop, House and some Jazzy elements. Spoek Mathambo has coined this genre as ‘Township Tech’. Laliboi is a skilled lyricist and he goes on to exhibit this skill by delivering a unique tongue-twisting rhyme scheme exclusively in Xhosa that will blow you away because it sounds so effortless when he does it. The hook on this song is equally addictive as the beat, there is no way you will play this song once. It has played on repeat in the background as I write this review about this work of art. EMONTI is a vibe-filled song that deserves to grace playlists across the globe, give it a listen and you will not be disappointed.
