Astumu was always the energetic one, but he is highly intelligent and carries more social standing. His first best friend is his brother, but Osamu is also his first rival. Everything that he gets is also given to his brother. Regardless of his achievements or hobbies, they're always compared to Osamu. Any original thought he has will never be acknowledged because he is a twin. They both were put in the same sport, and they each took different positions. Based solely on the fact that astumu idolizes the setter position, I can assume he likes to be the center of attention without any flashy moves. He strives for perfection because when he does good, so does everyone else. He takes this position seriously because your entire team falters if your team setter isn’t 100%. Regardless of his personality entails, he holds himself to such a high standard because of this. When he’s praised for his skill is the only time he gets his recognition apart from Osamu. Since his brother is a middle blocker, their skills are praised differently. He looks like he has a big ego, girls always fawning over him, grinning and teasing the other players, but he’s just enjoying the attention. When he’s not standing by his brother and gets complimented, he feels this sense of pride. Indeed, he finally stands out to be seen as a separate person instead of a pair over the moon. I fully believe this is why he went blonde. It's a more in your face color, representing how he kind of wants to stand out and be the sun, if you will. In comparison, Osamu is grey-haired, more subtle like the shadows, or a reference to being the clouds. When people always say Osamu is the more pleasant twin, sweeter, and more accepted, it still hits stumu the wrong way. He may lash out negatively and storm out, but I know he’s hurt for days emotionally and mentally. He wanted to be his person and loved for his qualities, but he’s ALWAYS the mischievous and loud brother, But he’s the hardest working one (as stated by Osamu himself in the manga). He will work until his whole body doesn’t move. He makes silent moves that will show when he’s on the court. All people see is his successes but not his failures. Only his team and brother witnesses his moments of weakness. He’s his own hardest critic, so when his brother picks on these insecurities, he will feel the worlds against him. His brother is his best friend and rival. To have Osamu give up volleyball after high school disappointed him much..but he wouldn’t give up on his brother and decides to continue their rivalry but shift it to who will be more successful or happier. Astumu, even if he doesn’t admit it, loves his brother, and if he didn’t have him, no one would understand his antics. His brother can take his fighting (verbal or physical) and won’t ever turn his back to him. His brother is his haven, not to be perfect. That's why in the time skip astumus ego and confidence seem to have taken a hit. His brother is always busy, and astumus career moves him around, so he doesn’t get a chance just to let loose and just act like his imperfect self. I think that's why his girlfriend, at first, will get SUPER special treatment. He will appear perfect 24/7 around you. He will pull the perfect boyfriend routine, keeping up this charade even if you secretly have his heart at that point. But you will have his soul when he breaks down and comes to you. If he confides in you, don’t take it for granted. It takes him ALOT to show his weak side. So if he does, it means he’s with you for the long run. You are, at that point, his wife. He just hasn't made it official if he tells you everything. But he will always be scared to show you all his faults because he wants you to have a strong man, worried that if he can't give you that, you will leave. And if you leave, he'll be alone. Your support is the primary source of energy for him. If you go, he wouldn't know how to put the pieces together. Especially since his brother isn’t around, his team is friends, don’t get me wrong, bokuto and everyone are his pals, but they don’t know what his brother does. He is a cuddly man. Once you know everything, his affection will be constant. He is big on PDA for two reasons; He loves you and never wants you to forget that. He wants to spoil you with affection and everything because it was something he lacked for so long AND because he is happy for the first time. Like genuinely in bliss. He can’t help it. He wants everyone to know that you're his because he’s always scared someone better is still out there. That is my honest take on Atsumu Miya’s character and what type of boyfriend he would be.
