[UUU Rescue = Universe and Universe's Universal Rescue, BTW]

STEVEN UNIVERSE - PILOT THUNDERBIRD 1 It's an unwritten rule that ‘we must protect this child at all costs, ergo we can give him the lion's share of the AUs if we want to’. Therefore, Steven is still the main character, as well as co-owner of UUU Rescue, sharing the business with his dad. Steven's wish of protecting the people he loves is strongly reflected in his piloting skills. Thunderbird 1 remains the same in this AU, except that Steven has painted a pink gem as a tribute to his mum. He's still half-human on his father's side, BTW.

AMETHYST or LAPIS - SPACE MONITOR Now, while Deeeskye has put Pearl in charge of Thunderbird 5 due to her love of space, in my version I've decided to give the job to Amethyst instead, merely as a shout-out to how comfortable she feels being cooped-up in her trash pile-filled room of the Temple in the show. In the original Thunderbirds series, the space station's monitors (John and Alan Tracy) swap places every month, so when Lapis isn't piloting Thunderbird 4, she monitors Earth from Thunderbird 5, as a nod to how she was able to transmit a message from Homeworld to Earth in "The Message".

GARNET / RUBY - PILOT THUNDERBIRD 2 Thunderbird 2 could be considered to be the most popular vehicle on the show, hence the most popular Gem on the show gets to pilot it. I like to think Garnet would be able to keep a cool head when transporting rescue vehicles and equipment to places, plus she'd be able to chat with Lapis/Amethyst during the flight. She's still a Fusion in this AU, so in the very rare event where she separates, Ruby pilots Thunderbird 2, since her smaller size allows her enough breathing space compared with Thunderbird 2's cockpit, although the mission nearly gets jeopardized whenever she loses her rag. Good thing the vehicle's fireproof!

LAPIS or AMETHYST / SAPPHIRE - AQUANAUT THUNDERBIRD 4 Out of the Gems, Lapis would definitely be suited for the role of Aquanaut. In fact, Thunderbird 4 when underwater would be custom-fitted to allow Lapis to use her water manipulation powers. It also works in Amethyst's case when the craft has to burrow through rock or such via its drill attachment - since Amethyst is a Quartz Gem, she would easily handle underground work and even provide more power to Thunderbird 4 by Spin Dashing on a special treadmill. Of course, depending on who's in Thunderbird 5 at the time, these advantages wouldn't be accessible to the pilot, and thus Thunderbird 4 would behave exactly as its Prime counterpart. By the way, if Garnet unfuses, Sapphire joins the pilot of Thunderbird 4 and acts as their co-pilot.

PEARL - ASTRONAUT THUNDERBIRD 3 The only reason why I've placed Pearl as Thunderbird 3's pilot in my take on the AU is purely through her role in "Space Race" - she's an expert in constructing and operating rockets, and loves space dearly - so hands down she would be THE astronaut of UUU Rescue. So long as she knows when she's gotta bail, she'd be fine in her rescue work - and since Steven would be there helping Pearl remember that logic from Thunderbird 1, they'd make a pretty good team in space!

PERIDOT - ENGINEER We've seen Peridot expertly use Robonoids and her limb enhancers on the show, so she'd be right as rain (!) in UUU Rescue's laboratory/testing grounds, using a combination of Earth and Homeworld tools to repair the vehicles and carry out experiments for the benefit of Gem- and mankind. As with the G2 Thunderbirds reboot, she doesn't have the famous stutter associated with Brains, though she will call people 'clods' whenever she's stressed out.

ROSE QUARTZ - BEACH CITY AGENT Lady Penelope was really popular in the 60s, and Rose Quartz has been a popular character of the 2010s, hence she gets to be a spy in this AU! She's still Steven's mum and married to Greg, though she chose to stay in Beach City to carry out rescue work there, as well as use the Temple as a hub for her espionage duties and to relay information to Greg and the team (all decked out with the latest technology thanks to Ronaldo). Like the G2 Penelope, she doesn't smoke (obviously), but like the G1 counterpart she gets to drive in a custom Rolls-Royce, decked out with James Bond-style gadgets, dubbed UUUR 1. She also has UUUR 2 (the Gem Sloop, albeit with spy gadgets), UUUR 3 (Lion's formal name, though everyone calls him 'Lion' whenever he visits), and Thunderbird 6 (a biplane restored and upgraded by Peridot so that it resembles the one seen in one of Ronaldo's favourite films, 'My Pet Pig Russell is a Pilot!!')

Other Characters

Greg Universe - Co-owner of UUU Rescue. He's the one who gets to sit in the chair and talk to those cool portraits that turn into video screens.

Nanefua - The housekeeper of Secret Watermeleon Island (It has to be kept secret from the general public, remember). Considering she has the same personality as Grandma Tracy, who else would I pick?!

Doug Maheswaran - Though in the original series, Kyrano took on the decidedly un-PC role of manservant, Mr. Maheswaran keeps his job as security guard in this AU.

Connie Maheswaran - Serving the same role as Tin-Tin in the original series, only up to 11. She takes up martial arts and sword-fighting so she can be strong enough to one day become Steven's relief pilot.

Ronaldo - Rose's butler, i.e. the one who gets to say the popular catchphrase "Yes, ma'am!" a lot (I can't imagine him saying 'Yus, m'lady....) Originally, I wanted Pearl to be Rose's butler to fit in with how she was by Rose's side in the Prime universe, but considering Ronaldo's the only one who's technically had a spin-off series via his blog, he was too popular not to be left out. Like Parker, Ronaldo used to be a criminal - committing cyber-crimes for the benefit of saving the world from the Sneeple - but Rose took him in so he could help her in espionage missions.
