We're Back For One Last Hurrah!
Yeah, that's right. I've finally gotten my hands on the Ultimate Edition, and that means I'll be giving you photos of all the new stuff included within the book before returning to retirement But that doesn't just include the book, because I also have...
the Dededoll! He's great.
Matthew Taranto did a Kickstarter a while back to print up a big volume of all the Brawl in the Family comic, etc, and mine finally arrived yesterday. I'm so excited
Dededoll posed with my life-size Kirby and Daisy crocheted plushes (aka they're both 20cm/8in tall). Perfect hugging size for lil D
guys look what i got
he looked a lot more ovular in the marketing ngl (nothin’ a lil’ more stuffing can’t fix)
I finished my Dededoll!!! :D Aside from the little mockups I made to practice sewing the pattern, this little fella is the first plushie I’ve ever made myself! I love him to pieces!!
I made the pattern myself based on photos of the original Brawl in the Family Dededoll, cut out all the fabric pieces, and sewed it together by hand because I don’t know how to use a sewing machine. Since I was making this guy from scratch I also decided to customize him a bit, so I made him a bit bigger (I think? he’s a bit over 10 inches, can’t tell how big the original is) thank the original Dededoll, sewed him a little V-for-victory logo for the back of his robe to match the symbol on Dedede’s robe in the Kirby games, and as a more minor detail made the front/center triangle red.
Brawl in the Family means a lot to me, I started reading it back in fifth or sixth grade not long after it started, and kept reading it up until it came to an end in 2014. I have all four hardcover compilation books, and it was always a big regret of mine that I never got a Dededoll when I had the chance. After years of searching on eBay and other websites, I finally decided that I’d make my own, and here he is :D
Photos of the original/official Dededoll that inspired me to make this guy, and the mockups, under the cut:

Day #106 - Dededoll Returns!
Mouseover Text + Notes:
This "Dededoll" was actually made real, though you can't buy it anymore. Here's a photo:
2025 update: I own one now, thanks to the Ultimate Edition kickstarter! Here's a pic:
Because the Dededoll produced by Brawl in the Family is at least 6 years out of stock (if not more), I decided to make my own, since none of the official Dedede plushies I’ve seen really appealed to me. Right now I’m just waiting for his eyes to arrive so I can finish sewing him up and stuffing him. Pictured here with the rest of my (official) Kirby plush squad!
