I am waiting on a delivery of organic cotton canvas to arrive so I had some time to play. I have always wanted to do decolourant on fabric, a recipe of thiox and soda ash. I have tried using pre-mix decolourant before and never with success. I happen to have some black crepe so I thought I would try it out.Â
Inspired by the Itajime Technique I folded the fabric into squares and then immersed the fabric into the decolourant bath.
The color I was left with is a pale green. Whenever you try and take out color from fabric, you never know what you will get. Sometimes the color could be blue, brown or in this case I was left with a pale green to ecru color.
That is me! wearing the finished product. Light isn't great but I hope you get the idea of the top. The last image is of the back of the top.Â
I like this, not sure it'll make it into production but soooo happy I got to try.
