The thing about these stories where the girl was brought into the family as a substitute for the daughter who disappeared/died, or the girl thought she was the real daughter but someone else comes along claiming to be the real one and that she's actually a fake, etc. Is that the plot twist is always, always that the protagonist was the real biological daughter all along when that's just the most boring choice, narratively speaking. Because it doesn't really have anything interesting to say. The connection between blood relatives is innate and trumps everything? "Real" (ie biological) family will always find each other? The girl is special by birth? It's her birthright? It's in her blood? How stale. Society always considers blood relations to be the most important, you're not actually saying anything new here
The protagonist always agonizes about not being the "real" one, about not being worthy, and whatever journey they go through culminates in oh you were fine your blood was the right one all along? Then what was it all for, storywise, if none of her actions were the thing that mattered the most in the end, if it was trumped by something she was born with and has no influence over?
@staff so it's fine to get an ad (?) about... nudism? Featuring a painting of someone's dick and balls but I can't see a post that's just a green square because your weird algorithm decided that that counted as mature content?

See, it's stuff like this that makes me believe Buggy is 100% gonna be Pirate King, at least for a few minutes. It sounded unblievably farfetched and delusional, but he did manage to become one of the Four Emperors, even if it happened in a cascading series of stupidly improbable events. Therefore, there's a considerable chance that Buggy will end up becoming King of the Pirates in a similarly ridiculous way
Hey @staff why is it that now every time I try to take a print screen of a post I get a pop up telling me I can save it as an image? What if I don't want to save it like that? What if I want the post in the dark mode I'm using? What if I just want to save a part of the post, and now you're making me go to the photo app and chose edit and then crop it? Reason: why why why would your first plan to escape the lifelong contract binding you to the male lead involve a Romeo and Juliet style fake suicide. He even offered to break the contract on his end when you were children, and you're not even gonna ask him first??? She thought about asking him, immediately dismissed it, and went straight to plan b) drug overdose. She's even roping in a random nobody apothecary she met 5 minutes ago into being her future accomplice
This would be so stupidly easy to fix too, just have her ask and him tell her no. It'll blend with how he's supposed to become obsessive and crazy as an adult, and give her an actual reason to have to take such a drastic measure
Maybe she does ask him later, but I can't bring myself to wait for the possibility. A stupid protagonist isn't necessarily a deal breaker, but the rest of the story just isn't entertaining enough to compensate for it
I'm just saying, if EYE was stuck in a time loop reliving my life where the fiancé turned husband that I love was clearly and unapologetically in love with my sister, it would take me two, three loops tops, to say well fuck that guy, honestly. Maybe it's the aromantic in me, but I'm choosing to believe this kind of love isn't real and is only something authors invented for that sweet dramatic angst
How interesting, I follow two people on opposite sides of a shipping war for a show I don't watch. All I know from the story and the respective ships comes from carefully curated gifsets and analysis catered to each one. This feels like being friends with a couple that's fighting and they come to bitch about it to me individually so I get to hear dirt from both sides
