I am sick. I have what I am alternately referring to as “the plague” and “death!flu”. (It’s a cold with a mild fever, but it sucks and feels really crappy, so I am calling it what I think it should be called). I haven’t gone into the office since Monday and I’ve done the barest minimum work from home possible. Which means I need to occupy myself some other way.
Now, usually, when I’m sick, my go-to show is How I Met Your Mother. PROBLEM. This is the first time I’ve really been this sick since the finale last year. HIMYM is still dead to me after that finale, like, I haven’t even watched a full episode yet and it’s been almost 15 months. But, I miss it. I haven’t missed it more than I have this week. I have fond, if hazy, memories of 4 years ago when I had actualfax plague (missed a week of school, 103.5 fever, 2 Drs appointments in that week, and 3 different prescriptions. Also more snot than I thought was capable of coming out of a human being). I was too sick to even attempt doing anything, so I just marathoned my S1 - S4 HIMYM DVDs. It was so nice. SO NICE. Especially in those first few years, it was such a brilliant show. I loved it so much. And specifically for this type of situation, my go-to bit of dialogue for when I’m sick is Barney’s incredibly pathetic “too. weak. to hold. bowl.” I am so, SO put out that one of my traditions has been ruined. ARGH.
(Also, do people have suggestions/recommendations for good “wahhh I’m sick” comedies? I’m thinking Friends, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, finishing what I haven’t seen of The Office, or starting Parks and Rec or The Mindy Project. Thoughts?)
