If their mother is gone and the baby is with a human caregiver instead, it will bond forever with the human. This is known as “IMPRINTING”. It’s what you see all over social media platforms and people think what they’re witnessing is LOVE. But the sad truth is newborns don’t know who their mothers are or what they even look like so on social media platforms like Instagram that show big cats hugging and licking the heads of social media influencers like #lionwhisperer or #blackjaguarwhitetiger or #deanschneider or #therealtarzann What you’re really witnessing is an animal that missed out on the opportunity to bond with their biological Mothers because we need to be entertained by the unusual friendships between wildlife and humans. It’s absolutely not cute. It’s animal exploitation. No legitimate sanctuary or rescue organization encourages human contact unless absolutely necessary. To separate a mother from her cubs isn’t rescuing. It’s unethical and in legitimate rescues, the Mother would also be rescued along with her cubs and her cubs would remain with her for life.
