Trends come and go all the time. Flip flops and army pants will be in one week and out the next. (S/o my “Mean Girls” fans) But seriously, it can be hard to keep up with styles that are constantly changing. So I want to take you guys back to the basics and introduce you to some of my wardrobe essentials that will last a lifetime. I’m talking about the clothes that don’t require any stress in putting together! Phew!
Clean & casual! Button-up shirts always look classy no matter what. They are sold in all different colors, prints, and material. You could wear it with pencil skirts, trousers, jeans… pretty much anything you want! Depending on where you are going, this top could be styled professionally or casually. It is so versatile!
Short black dresses are always in style. They are so flattering and yet so simple! If your going for a dressier look feel free to have fun with jewelry and accessories. Make sure you pick a dress with an appropriate length and neckline however.
This one is probably self-explanatory. This can be worn anywhere, from getting lunch with a friend to hitting the town to run errands. It’s almost too easy to just throw on with a pair of shorts or pants.
Black trousers are so classy and casual. You can pair them with a sweater and flats, or a fitted shirt with a blazer and pumps. You have endless options to play dress up.
Such a classic, blue jeans match with nearly any top. Especially skinny jeans and straight leg jeans. Flare jeans go in and out of style occasionally.
Although leggings just became a style a few years ago, I don’t think it’ll ever fade out. I know I own nearly 10 pairs of the same black leggings and I pair them with anything and everything. (Comment below if you can relate! Haha) Such a basic piece of clothing and they are so comfortable!
They’ve been around for years and never get old. It is perfect for nearly every season and adds personality to even the most basic look.
Knit sweaters come in all styles and designs. A plain sweater is a must in your wardrobe. I own a few in beige, black, and maroon. Perfect falls colors for the chilly seasons.
Pumps can be worn to work, dinner, and parties. A basic black or nude pair is all you need to get the most use out of them. Need I say more?
Sneakers never fail!! Especially if your living in NYC. I know for sure, my feet would be killing me all the time if I didn’t own a pair. They are a necessity for any kind of exercise and will go perfect with casual jeans or leggings.
