Neil came. Callie couldn’t believe that Neil actually came. Someone must’ve called and told him about the accident, but he was supposed to be performing. He left that just to rush to the hospital. But of course, hospital staff wouldn’t let him in to see her. It didn’t matter how much she screamed at them to, they couldn’t hear her anyway. She was stuck wandering around out of her body, where no one could see or hear her. It was the most frustrating thing that could ever happen to her.
He wasn’t allowed in the back room to see her, but that didn’t stop him waiting around. He stayed in the waiting room so he could hear any news the doctors would give her grandparents. Callie imagined that not even a war could move him. Walking into the waiting room to see what everyone was doing she saw Neil in a chair in the corner, asleep. It had been a long day for everyone, so she understood him dozing off. She smiled slightly as she made her way over to him and sat in the chair beside him. She longed to touch him, to make everything ok, but he wouldn’t feel it.
Callie didn’t know what to do. Thinking back to how they had left things before she didn’t want them to end that way. She didn’t know how to wake up. Tears came to her eyes as she looked at Neil, still sleeping. Callie leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips, just because she couldn’t help herself. She had missed him. After pulling back she saw his eyelids flutter open. Maybe he knew. She moved her face back closer to his and whispered, “I’m here, Neil, I’m here. It’s ok, I love you, and I’m here.”
