"Seltzer water and lemon for blood."

“Seriously?” Aranea asked as she acceptedboth items from the ever-helpful adviser. “Is there anything you don’t know, Specs?” the dragoon added with a smirk, but turned her eyes to theblood-soaked fabric of her uniform and tried applying the carbonated water inaddition to the squeezed lemon juice. The fact that she had to wear that long, white piece of fabric around her waist was a joke, but the Empire liked theirpeople with marked like cattle – the Niflheim coat of arms needed to besomewhere on her.
She could hear Noctis and Prompto talkingover the fish he was trying to reel in for dinner just across the pond;Gladiolus was nowhere to be seen for the moment and she figured he’d be doingsomething manly like chopping wood for the fire or taking care of the tent. “They’reso lucky to have you, y’know. You worry so they don’t have to and they don’teven realize that.”
After a few seconds, the combinationsuggested by the adviser had worked perfectly. Aranea snickered at that – of course,Ignis could never be wrong, could he? But she also realized that she was now part of the group of people whose needs he tended to – because Ignis didn’t needto worry about her bloodstained uniform, but he did anyway. That made Araneapause for a moment, suddenly shocked with that revelation but pretending to beastonished at how quick the improvised stain-remover worked.
“You know what? Why don’t you put me tosome use in the kitchen? I’m always around and eating, but never helping. You’vedone more than your share and I’m no slacker when it comes to earning my breadand butter,” she left her uniform behind and stood up after washing her hands, offering him a wink, “After all, I’m no princess to get all these good bits ofadvice for free, right?”
As they started to make their way back tocamp, Aranea decided that if she ever witnessed Noctis whining about hisprincely duties again, she’d slap him on his face. Just for good measure.
