So many mopeds.
Nashville was the perfect rally to kick off the start of the season.
Perfect weather, perfect people, perfect scenery. And we even got to stop by Third Man Records, which was fucking incredible. I was literally in awe. Richie & I both bought patches for our vests. Because who doesn't want to brag that they've been inside of Third Man Records? I know I do. Yetis rolled out of Lafayette around 3pm & due to horrible traffic & pit stops, we didn't make it to The Zombie Shop until almost 11pm. The ride overall wasn't that terrible, the Yeti Van is actually pretty spacious & we all got some naps in, as well as sing-alongs. By the time we got there, we all hopped on our mopeds super fast in hopes of making it to the party, but as soon as we rolled up, everyone was leaving. Womp womp. So we rode with the group back to the shop. This is when shit hit the fan, less than an hour into us being there. We were riding on the road next to the shop to get inside & some drunk assholes coming out of the gentleman's club behind the shop decided they were going to run into the road & "pretend" they were going to hit me/pull me off my moped. I swerved & kept going since I was only around the corner from the shop & I wasn't sure anyone else around me had seen it or would've backed me up if I pulled off to go off on the guy. So I got back to the shop & I hear some of the Swoopz talking about how some dude DID pull someone off their bike & I immediately took off after the guy, about 15 mopedders in tow. We found him & he immediately put on his tough-guy-drunk-face. I got right back in his face screaming at him & he kept insisting he didn't do anything & insulting us, saying we were pussies. Security came out from the club & told them to move along, so of course as they're walking away, they're screaming shit still but we tried to just head back to the shop. But then they started screaming that I was a bitch & we needed to take our "scooters" back home & that was it. The entire group of us booked it up the hill after them & into a parking lot where one of our dudes proceeded to bash both of the assholes with his helmet. At which point they both immediately switched to "You guys need to calm down, we didn't mean any trouble" & I shoved the asshole, screaming various obscenities in his face while his friend was holding his head. They decided they had had enough & hobbled across the main street, yelling about how WE were assholes. Ha. Hahaha. Perfect kick off to a rally weekend.
I got back to the shop & everyone (I mean EVERYONE) was asking if I was okay & patting me on the back for getting in the dudes face. Sorry, just because I have a vagina doesn't mean I'm going to take some asshole's bullshit. I went & found the big guy who bashed their heads in & hugged him for sticking up for me & he was absolutely great. I love moped people. Ha. After that excitement, we decided to wind down & turn in for the night.
Saturday was perfect. So so perfect. We woke up around 9am & a group of us headed to the local diner for some much needed coffee & breakfast. Best bacon I've ever had. Then we bullshitted around a bit, visited Third Man Records, & waited for the ride to leave. The ride was the same as last year, but that's definitely not a complain because it is SO beautiful & perfect. Up through the hills & trees & long winding roads with no tight, retarded turns. The group was spread out pretty evenly with Anna (xenadu) & I towards the back of the front pack, keeping up pretty well. Our men were blasting while the rest of the group stayed a bit towards the back. Responsible Jon sadly lost spark on the first leg & had to wait for the chase vehicle but everyone else was moving right along. We made a few stops along the way, including one at this place called Puckett's, which had delicious (albeit expensive) food & an adorable little family band called The Lacks. We watched them play while we waited in line & picked up their CD. You should actually check them out, they were really good. On the way back, Figg's Moby went into perma-pedal mode so he also had to wait for the chase, but at least he made it through most of the ride, which is better than last year.. Poor kid.
We got to a last gas stop, Anna & I rolling in with the front of the pack & our men were nowhere to be found. She texted Trav & no response. The rest of the ride showed up, still no sign of them, so we assumed they either stopped to help someone, Travis's bike fucked up, or Richie seized. We could do nothing about any of those things, so we decided to just keep going with the group & figure it out back at the shop.
So we arrive back at the shop & finally hear from the boys. They only say they've got a story for us, so I'm assuming they are dead. But no, Richie's storage compartment he built under his bike came open mid-ride up a hill & allllllllll off his tools & shit came flying out, so they had to spend a good 20 minutes riding along looking for his stuff & then they decided to just stop along the way helping people. How admirable. So we all hung out at the shop for a while, went to some over-priced shitty Mexican restaurant where I proceeded to tell the manager to go fuck herself because she decided to charge us $9 for fucking chicken tenders (long story I don't feel like getting into), & at that point, the husband & I decided to be old people & lay down in the van for a bit. Both of us were really sore & tired & we turned in for the night while the party commenced in the shop. We are old.. Ha.
Woke up Sunday around the same time & all went for breakfast at the same fantastic little diner. Hung out around the shop yard, packed up our stuff, & waited for the last ride to commence. We rode out to a little ice cream shop, said our goodbyes, & on the road we went to head home.
Overall, it was a fantastic time. A few "rage" moments with the fight & some other things, but all in all, well worth it. I can't believe it's only 3 weeks now until Louisville. Fuck yes.
