Russian Deconstructionist Jazz-Core
Dead Frank is a trio from St. Petersburg composed of a mullet-head saxophone, a metal bassist and a drummer lady, which rendering of jazz-core tries to make a step further in the genre without relying solely on technical skills and sound impact. Set on impro evolutions and long layering of moods, Dead Frank style is distant from the footprint of jazz-core iconoclasts like John Zorn, instead their slow-paced, heavy dropped overwhelming sound resembles more like a stoner deconstructionism in which the atmospheres, and therefore the whole, is much more important than single parts and virtuosisms.
