Differences and similarities between words are easy, spelling and meaning are two definite sources of distinction. Differences and similarities between emotions are often much more difficult, without an exact medium of expression we are left with words. An exact science being used to explain an unexact phenomenon.
You can say you hate someone or love someone. But you may just hate their personality, or you may just love how they look. Using words to express such passionate and complicated emotions is impossible in the very essence of the sense. Poetry comes close, she may be more lovely than a summers day but that does not describe how you feel about her.
Once I believed I was in love, but just as many 16 year olds, I later came to realise i was wrong. I then believed it again, and again, just as many 18 year olds, I later realised I was wrong. Many secret crushes and fleeting winks, failed dates and drunken nights have gone by, but still a single figure remains in the waste.
I have spent the last 18 months actively avoiding developing attachment to another, there were times when some outstanding individuals broke through, but mostly it has been lonely. Yet there is a girl who I believe I haven't had a day go by in 6 years, where I hadn't given her a thought, however small. How do you assure such feelings when you are constantly chasing the feeling? To tell her is simple, but to have a chance is playing chess in the dark; moving blindly and hoping for the best in a world that is far more complicated than it need be.
I am a child chasing a feather on the wind, a bird chasing the sunset, a degenerate chasing an angel. To simply share presence is euphoric, but to find a time is the key.
The two dreams I now have, is to travel the word as this nonsensical gentle rebel, and to find that key.
