What’s funny to me, after reading Spider-Man and reading Daredevil now, is that Matt started out as a much more light-hearted and playful character than Peter, who tended to be more melodramatic and pessimistic*, and yet he’s the one who ended with a more somber and darker tone. I have the very serious theory that it’s because, as Marvel’s powerhouse, they couldn’t let Peter get too heavy in the long run (hence the Clone Saga - after everything Peter went through, they had to replace him with a version of himself without all his baggage, among other reasons), while with Matt they could go where the story took them, and since one of his best runs (by someone I can’t remember - Waid? Miller?) set a darker tone, it made sense to stick to it, and to go back to it even after attempts at more light-hearted stories (again... Waid? Maybe?)... but honestly right now I’m just half enjoying/ half suffering the birth of Mike Murdock.

Re: the twilight werewolf imprinting discussion in DD 26, I'm pretty sure I read that Smeyer said that (part of?) the reason Jacob was attracted to Bella was because she was carrying the egg that would become Renesmee, the person he was destined to imprint on. So uh. Yeah. 🫠 Do what you want with this information.
