YIPPEEE !! another piece completed !! it's been so fun and surprising to see myself complete yet another piece ! really so glad to have fallen into dcst HAHA
oka so first the art process. i'm doing a diff. style ! my previous way of shading was quite tedious and i didn't feel like doing all that so i just kinda yolo-ed my way through this one HAHA it's rather messy / unpolished but I think I quite like it anyways !
originally, the piece wasn't supposed to look like this at all. it was supposed to look like this :
at first when I created the palette it didn't look too bad but then I put it tgt and realised it didn't look the way I wanted ! but I was like trust the process HAHA so I carried on with it but later on I couldn't figure out how to draw the shirt and so I gave up and restarted all the way from the beginning
and this time I was more careful with mixing the colours HAHA
i struggled with this new pose (not that the first one was easy for me HAHA) but actually. it was fun. i'm not sure why but I really enjoyed working with this pose. I think before I would've struggled immensely and ended up giving up on drawing this piece entirely or maybe frustratedly and disappointedly went to find a new ref. but for some reason, this time I enjoyed figuring out how I wanted to do the pose. perhaps i'm improving ? I hope so !!
honestly I don't hate the og design, it gives me zombie vibes HAHA maybe one day i'll pick it up again or tweak it ?
so moving on. while drawing I suddenly felt that I wanted to make the scar on gen's face half a heart. so I tried but when I did it, it didn't really look as cool as I envisioned to be so I just changed it back to how it looks. she was also supposed to have hoop earrings but I got lazy. and also I kinda felt that it wouldn't look nice. I thought that if I was going to add earrings, I wanted them to look nice or have some connection / meaning, like drawing the earpiece from dcst. but i'm lazy so it didn't happen ...
ohyeah also idt it's very clear in the ss but in the corner of my canvas is the sketch and in the sketch I drew the petrification scar to go all the way down. I thought it would look cooler. I kinda forgot what happened but I think I did try it and realised it didn't so I gave up. I went to go find the ep in s1 where gen was stabbed to find out where his scar stopped at.
oh and at first I wanted to keep the braid but then when I was sketching I realised that it would block the singlet strap and arm and it looked kinda messy so I decided to replace with a messy bun. looking back now, I feel that if I had went with the braid, I would've just erased whatever was under it and it wouldn't be messy when I started filling in the colours and all but I would probably struggle with the braid's shading. so !
oka next how I feel about this piece. so like from the start Ik I wanted gen to be looking down but as I drew I realised I kinda dk what the context could be for this pose. well it's not that there has to be one but I kinda wanted to give this piece some mini story. so here's what I came up with after racking my brain for a while:
stem major senku is roommates with psychology major gen. gen is her senior and treats her carelessly and acts coquettishly with her. many times, gen will loop arms with senku and nuzzle into her and whines when senku pushes her face away. sometimes, she will choose to lounge around in senku's bedroom. she will lie on senku's bed (if senku's on it, gen will lie on her or lean against her !) and do whatever she wanted and when bored, she will simply observe senku.
to others, they always see gen all well-put together and dressed fashionably and in many layers. to senku, she dresses extremely casually and freely, ditching all her layers. she always has at least a singlet on but sometimes with the way she wears it, senku wishes that she might as well not wear one.
"what did you want to show me?" gen looks down at senku's table then leans over senku's shoulder to take a better look. senku angles her head a little to give gen more room then glances at her face. she enjoys watching the way gen figures out whatever she's looking at and then look awed by her it. despite having taken a better look, gen decides to change her position. now, she rests her chin atop's senku's head and both her arms drape over senku's shoulders as she leans over and pushes senku down.
"omg there's no way you made this !! that's azy-cray, how did you know that i've been wanting one !!"
"call it intuition or maybe because you've been talking my ear off about it the past week."
"hehe~ thank you so much, senku-chan~ !! i love you so much, you're the best ! mwah !"
"yeah yeah, just get off of me." <- after hearing the ilysm, senku is suddenly frustrated that gen can toss such words out carelessly and carefreely
okay that's it. if anything doesn't make sense, it's because I just came up with it and I don't feel like using any more brain power ...
so anyways it's just gen who flirts and teases senku for fun and senku who is so done with it and is so close to making it real ! and also why does she have a petrification scar in this au ? it's simple. it's because I wanted her to have one. is it just makeup ? maybe, idk, I just wanted to add the scar hehe
hm perhaps I'll draw gen with a more cheeky expression next time
also i feel that besides the colour of the hair and the petrification scar, i just did whatever I wanted and so when I pulled up gen's ref image from the fanwiki... mn it's two different people. oh well, I enjoy my art thou
okay one last thing is the colour palettes. like I mentioned above how I was choosing the colours and didn't like how it looked the first time yada yada yada anyways ! what happened both times was that I had some green added to the og colours picked out so that the art would match the green bg and the first time there was too much green. at first I was like damn, this is how I usually did my other palettes, maybe green is just not what I should go for. but the thing is, this is at it's core (well part of it is), a ship art. so obviously I had to have green for senku (and if I ever did a piece for senku to kinda match this one, it would be purple !) and so I just ended up using less green and a different shade. and it worked out ! I don't think the green is too obvious in the final piece especially in the face (like aside from the obviously green bg) ?

5. Similar to Point 4: He was able to trek through Roppongi hills to the village with Francois without any breaks. (Man has endurance fr)
6. He also climbed a giant pole to perform a magic trick during Chrome/Magma showdown. (Not easy to climb)
7. In 4d science, him, Senku, Ryusui and Chrome walked to a hill because Medusa wanted to be there. He got there quicker than the others and Senku was the slowest (the astronaut training died www)

I have been rewatching Dr. Stone from the first since it's been ages. And when I read fanfics many are based on that time. I am trying to watch on dub. At first it was jarring but I am getting used to it. And uh, I love Gen. I was waiting for his arrival oh my god. He definitely makes things better.
