First character designs of Senku and Taiju "At the planning stage, Taiju was the protagonist and Senku was a supporting character." โ Boichi-sensei
First concept illustrations with inked line art, of Taiju and Senku for the Jump Serialization Meeting
"I gave Senkuโthe geniusโa strong, hero-like hairstyle, while Taiju, as the protagonist, was designed more in my own style rather than a typical Jump hero: a relatively ordinary hairstyle, but with a muscular build. Because Taiju was the protagonist, I focused the emotional beats and close-up direction on him." โ Boichi-sensei
"In my mind, the greatest heroine in Weekly Shonen Jump was Ai from Video Girl Ai, so I gave Yuzuriha a spiral-shaped hairband as a homage to that work. However, this element was not yet present in her initial design." โ Boichi-sensei

Observation Scope Mounted on the Helmet Armor "The unit mounted on the helmet armor is not a light, but an observation scope. It is intended for surveillance and reconnaissance purposes, such as observing Why-Man while remaining concealed. The arresting ring attached to the multifunction utility belt can also be seen in this design. A: The chest-mounted control panel is unusually large and protrudes outward, featuring an oversized arresting ring. This serves as a mounting mechanism for weapons. Even in the concept-stage designs, Stanley's suit included a system for mounting weapons on the chest. This feature can be seen as an extension of that idea. B: The control buttons are arranged in a layout reminiscent of a game controller. Small arresting rings can also be seen positioned throughout the suit." โ Boichi-sensei
Boichi-sensei shares the story behind Sai's first appearance!
"Sai's first appearance is, in a way, my tribute to Indian culture. Iโve loved Hindu philosophy โHinduism, Tantra, Kundalini, Yoga, etc.โ and I often draw inspiration from them in both fantasy and sci-fi world-building. So, as a sign of admiration and respect, I incorporated the image of Lord Shiva into Saiโs introduction. In the referenced image, the upper left is Shiva, and the upper right is his consort, Goddess Kali." โ Boichi-sensei
Good morning ๐ here's a fun fact shared by Boichi-sensei! ๐
"Inagaki-sensei, the original creator of Dr. STONE, is an excellent artist! And Sai is a character designed by him. Inagaki-sensei sent a rough design of Sai along with something unusualโphotos of a Bollywood actor, saying, โSai has this kind of vibe.โ (โrephrased) In Saiโs case, I followed both his design and the reference photos very closely, adding only a few symbolic elements of my own." โ Boichi

Boichi-sensei shares information about the space suits design for the moon mission ๐๐
Space Suit(EVA) for Moon Mission "Designed around a classic spacesuit configuration for ease of engineering implementation, while incorporating several ideas proposed by Senku. The suit is donned by joining the upper and lower sections to a multifunction utility belt positioned at the waist. This utility belt originated with the pressure suit system and remains standard equipment worn by crew members throughout mission operations. Equipped with arresting slots and arresting rings, the belt allows a wide range of tools and mission equipment to be attached with ease. Since the belt is constructed from metal and is relatively heavy, a support harness running from the shoulders to the back helps maintain its proper position and distributes its weight effectively." โ Boichi-sensei

Lunar Spacesuit with Combat Modules "This design features a standard lunar spacesuit equipped with additional combat modules. The combat components are attached to the base suit, enhancing its protection and combat capabilities while retaining the functionality of the original design." โ Boichi-sensei
