One thing that is often overlooked about Peeta is how generous and kind of a person he is. Obviously, he’s a sweetheart to the woman he loves, but he’s also just a sweetheart in general. He would do absolutely anything to help the people who need it. Living in one of the less poor parts of District Twelve often led to him feeling slightly guilty, because sometimes when he went out, he would see how the other people struggled and wonder why he wasn’t doing anything to help him.

He’s SUPER smart. This is also often overlooked. He usually thinks about things a lot before he takes action. He isn’t impulsive; he considers everything he says and does, especially in front of the cameras.

He was absolutely willing to die for Katniss in the arena, and after the second reaping when he found out she’d have to go in again, he wished he would’ve just taken the berries himself and let Katniss win. Then, maybe she wouldn’t be in so much danger. Because he knew that the Capitol had done this on purpose. He knew.

As soon as the third Quarter Quell twist was announced, Peeta ran straight to Haymitch, begging for him to make sure Katniss made it out alive, no matter what. He also made Haymitch promise not to volunteer for him if Peeta’s name was the one reaped. Unfortunately, Katniss made Haymitch promise the opposite, and even more unfortunately, Haymitch’s name was the one reaped, and Peeta didn’t even hesitate to volunteer. He had a lot of trauma from the first Games, yes, but he wasn’t even thinking about that because he was so focused on keeping Katniss safe. He loved her more than anything else in the whole world.

The only thing he can think of is that he’d been caught talking to the last Avox in his employ (care, he thinks, wouldn’t be the proper word for it). And yes, he’s well aware that Avoxes cannot speak — they aren’t meant to, it’s the manner of their punishment. But so is he punished to be so bored that he has to make up stories in his head for them in lieu of actual conversation.

     He isn’t told where they come from — what they’ve done to warrant their fate. He has considered, on occasion, that perhaps some of the Capitol citizens themselves might be better candidates for the procedure. So few of them know how to be quiet, in the end — and it’s always the same thing: the parties, the rumors, the games, the victors. Francis wonders when they’d stopped trying to make Panem a better place and instead placed all their attention on needless cruelties to those that provide the very foundation on which the Capitol is built.  He’s grown up, of course, having all of this explained to him by teachers and his grandfather alike — but it still makes little sense. He recalls when he’d been a young lad and told his grandfather ‘just because you can doesn’t mean you should’. His grandfather’s response had been a harrowing ‘you should do whatever it takes to reach your goals.’  The lesson? That the worse things get, the more you can get away with — the less people are surprised by it.

Although Valerie's expression was wide-eyed and earnest, Ben flashed a soft smile and held up a hand, indicating that he would be fine on his own. Came Roman's question - Both pairs of eyes were trained directly at Val, trying to sense some sort of direction for what she was feeling for.

"I mean, amusement park you can do pretty much fucking everything" Roman added, whilst Peter rolled his ocean blues in retaliation.

"-And same can be said about the movies - Come on man, you need to lighten up and not just rely on the same routine, bullshit"

Rumancek was quick to retort, but either way, both the boys had given Val the option of how to spend their night together.

Zelda sighed heavily at the sight of yet another stray deciding to loiter about her home. It seemed in the past year there had been an unnecessary increase in creatures at her door all with the same lost or yearning look, all undoubtedly here to cause trouble, demanding help or answers. Most likely due to Sabrina; it was always due to Sabrina. 

“Unless you’re here to plan a funeral, I suggest you leave,” she said brusquely as she came back from the garden, walking past the young girl on her front stairs and heading straight to the door. She turned sharply on her heel to look at her. “​And if you’re one of Sabrina’s little school friends, we are not a house that receives visitors.” She paused, sensing something in the girl, something...un-mortal. “Though that doesn’t seem likely.” She shifted her weight, suddenly interested. “What are you?”
