speaking of episode 371/372 aka the episode with the baseball player who was killed by the reporter.
There was a short moment where the culprit used his phone and Shinichi got all tense like he does when someone from the BO is around.ย
So now im wondering what that was about? The killer wasnt part of the BO so I doubt it was the phone either. Was it just because hes the killer?
My cat is currently fast asleep on my chair and I'm not feeling evil enough to move her so no sketching tonight I guess. So instead brief intro as I'm actually gaining some followers on this little rambling sideblog.
I'm Tabbi, I love murder mystery and thus fell in love with Detective Conan upon finding the first two volumes in my tiny bookshops tiny manga section as a teen. Years later time to rewatch the entire thing XD
Imma use this blog to ramble about the episodes I watched, reblog cute fanart, (I'm a big multishipper for the record they're all just so good) and apparently I am attempting to catalogue everything Ran has ever worn.
I'm up for chatting about the show or anime if people want to be mutuals too! And you can send asks or whatever as well :)
Film 10 tonight! I'm going into the film's blind unlike the anime so I have no clue what's happening so far. Why are the detective boys Danganronpad in a theme park with Ran. What even is this case they need to solve? Why is KID here? (But thanks for having him. He could turn up, do nothing for two minutes and I'd still be very happy he's here.)
Detective Conan Rewatch Episodes 491-504
The long awaited 14 parter! We just about managed it in one night ๐ and just wow yeah a loot happens in the Clash of Red and Black. To sum up my thoughts though it's a lot of wow this is a really excellent showcase of Conan's planning abilities, yes he has help from Shuichi but a lot of the planning that goes into outwitting the organisation here is him and we don't even get to see the full extent of how much he's planned ahead until much later!!!
Regarding individual cases within the the arc: the remittance fraud case read like a PSA in the manga and still does here but nothing wrong with that!
The case with the alibi trick due to slow impending death is neat. Feels like it's been a while since we've had a case where the death was as fucked up like that. Not that it's entirely undeserved ๐
Working out who of the three patients is the organisation member is pretty easy but Conan's approach is cute and funny and it's nice how it doubles as proving his value to the FBI in having him around right now and justifies him being there a bit more. This arc stretches the 'he's just a child and we don't even know he's kudo' with how much the adults listen to him but they make it work with things like this and the previous respect he's won.
The actual 'rescue' of Rena is also great. The simultaneous attacks from the organisation to flood the hospital and also the bombs and Gin's inference of what's going on really sells the danger level in the organisation having smarts that they haven't always achieved before and provides good stakes. I also like that this plot works because it's Akai and Gin knowing how smart the other is, like that one story about the two Chinese generals ya know?
Death of the talent manager is a case I really like actually. The 'magic spell' makes sense actually and is good fun but best in this episode is how quickly they take Agent Camel from 'pls suspect this very suspicious man' to 'hi this man is a bit of a dork actually and very lovable'
As for Shuichi's death, naturally my friend isn't buying it XD but we'll see if they can work it out. Until then imma be insisting he's dead.
You know what tho I feel for Rena. Poor girl is pretty young, was probably pretty fresh in the CIA, thought she was going undercover for a few months and then ended up having to kill her dad, loose her contact with the CIA, become a public figure which puts her brother at risk, be basically an actual member of the organisation because she can't pass any info on, constantly be suspected of being undercover by vermouth, be a part of assassinations, got into a serious traffic accident, a coma, held by the FBI who don't know she's undercover, nearly stabbed by her brother, has a six year old break down this entire story of her past few terrible years and then an FBI agent says that actually they're sending her back undercover and she's also going to have to kill him too actually. Girl deserves a break.

Detective Conan Rewatch 471-486
Oops I forgot to write my thoughts down for a few days again
The uncontrollable rental car was actually top tier tho. I'm used to the single ep anime originals being fairly straightforward but this was unique and the characterization was great. We see Kogoro's best side and action hero dad Tagaki and a really smart trick pulled by Conan to save them all. I really liked this one.
Shinichi Kudo's childhood adventures is super cute! It's really nice to see babby Ran and of course Shiinichi. I almost wish we had more of their past and how they fell in love and the development part of all that but I get why we don't and the snippets we do get are cute. We get to see dad KID too which is fun (and babby Kaito too!) However as my friend pointed out this ep does feel like it confuses the nebulous timeline somewhat? Yukiko's been retired from acting for some time now so her still actively studying from Toichi is odd? Maybe? Maybe it's just her hobby now I dunno.
The love of lawyer Eri Kisaki is funny. It's super simple, especially for anyone who owns a cat but it manages to be great regardless. Ran really nearly assaulted a man ๐ well I'm sure Eri could have gotten her off the charges but still
Bad luck grand Prix is well it's an average episode, i certainly didn't think it was bad but it felt like a regular old episode with nothing super standout. I do like the occasional cases that are Kogoro and Conan hanging out all family like though it's sweet.
Genta's certain kill shot was fun! Mostly because my friend saw the title in advance and we've been choking about Genta's upcoming murder plan for a while XD the actual case is still pretty neat tho, although as usual the English is a little rough. I wouldn't say its common but you probably want imp or pixie to describe a mischievous kid not elf. I also kinda agree with Kogoro that it was mean to point at Genta and call him a murderer poor kid.
Real 30 minutes is an odd case. The time... didn't feel super relevant? The character designs were neat though and Conan and Haibara teaming up is always good.
Three days with Heiji Hattori! My boy was back for some more cases and they're fun ones. The first is neat because it feels like they reiterated Conan's trauma regarding cornering a culprit, almost feel like they could have focused on the impact of that ending and what that means to Conan and Heiji more but eh, it was neat to have it still. As for the detective Koushin I really enjoyed it! I've been looking forward to it a lot since reading that manga chapter and having a gathering of detectives is fun, the culprit is great too, I can see why she's so well liked. It's also great to have Hakuba here too although I gotta admit that yeah he seems pretty Sus of Conan, or perhaps just nice about it who knows. I liked the whole sequence at the beginning regarding the backstory too. And finally Heiji did really great! I like how they show how he differs from most other detectives we see who stand back and observe with methodical coldness by being emotionally invested, always having hope for possible best outcomes and willing to come across as wrong and act to gather the evidence he needs. I love him and this episode did a great job of showing why <3
Yellow Alibi is a sad case with a dumbass for a culprit. Who on earth murders someone on a beach and then tries to hide the fact the murder happened on a beach? Has this man never been to a beach before? You never get all the sand off my god.
Mountain Witch's cutlery is a simple little case but well presented, the weapon was neat and the kids were cute.
The vanished policeman was also a cute little simple case. Not much to say about it other than that tho.
Whereabouts of the dark photograph is fun because the crime differs which is neat every so often. Also those two guys will probably never commit a crime in their lives after that experience XD
Beckoning cat from left to right is simple but hey it has cats and Conan and Haibara teaming up which is nice.
I only just learnt that Mitsuhiko is Pikachu.
Detective Conan Rewatch Episodes 487-490 + OVA 8
Metropolitan police detective love story 8! Okay case is whatever, the victim kinda deserves it tho but the main point of the love stories is naturally Sato and Tagaki and I love them their romance is the funniest while remaining really sweet and can be really heartfelt too. In this case Sato's obliviousness is at max level but that's part of what makes it funny, girls gotta have a weak point somewhere XD and poor Tagaki is just confused. And Yumi meddler she is proves she can't be trusted to have your best interests at heart if your suffering is more entertaining for her XD
The devil at the TV station is... an odd choice for a special? But like the case is pretty good, the howdunnit instead of the whodunnit makes for a nice change when we get it every so often and the trick is a fun one to understand
Courtroom confrontation 3 is... well it's not bad and I like what they were going for definitely with the character arcs and stuff and like I wanna like Eri's court cases cause I like Eri and seeing her in EPs but the courtroom feels a bit bland compared to a deduction show :( Also that man ascended in the funniest way before falling which made it kinda hard to take seriously ๐
Deduction battle on the ski slope!!! It's everything I wanted out of that adaptation!!!! I love the Heiji cases and this one's top tier from the gorgeous animation (that snow!!!) And the case itself being fun, younger teens Heiji and Shiinichi at that interesting point in their lives were they're still learning to be detectives and not fully acknowledged as such by many others so striving to prove themselves (in a way that also (in)conveniently means they can't meet XD) it's really good up there with some of my favourite overall episodes of the whole series.
OVA 8 - casebook of high school detective Suzuki Sonoko. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect going into each OVA and I was honestly not expecting this one to be so funny! I was laughing so hard when the detective boys rescued E.T. it's a really funny, very enjoyable watch
