dcddyrecper answered your ask:“…didn’t know where else to go…”
There was a code required to get into the area of the sky-rise where Death choose to dwell. He had chosen likely to few’s surprise Chicago as his home. He had a posh apartment in one of the highest buildings that would allow him to look down on the city he once saved. He had various bolt holes across the world but this is where he went when he wanted to take in the city and be discreet about it.
So when the angel suddenly appeared in the living room of his abode Death was indeed taken aback. Not because Castiel had sought him out that part he was use to, but rather the condition the angel was in when he arrived. Apparently his grace had not kicked in well enough yet. Death tilted his head at the dripping wet angel. A towel was summoned to hand and he moved over to the angel to wrap it around him. “What the heavens happened to you ?” he asked it was not that Death could not simply know. He rather get it from the source as well. “Come in.” he said dryly since the angel was already in his home. He needed to refresh his wards, not against his current guest but against anything that might be following. “Are the Winchester’s in a tiff with you again ?” he asked since he didn’t know where else to go. Normally Team Free Will as they were collectively thought of, were very into their own little sphere, or clique or what ever the kids were calling it these days. Death didn’t simply leave his side to get him a change of clothes, not yet anyways he wanted to know what was going on.
It was an odd bond he had come to find in Death himself. For as much as he was feared by others, Castiel had come to find a strange content at the Reaper’s side. Every now they would come to meet one another, advice be given, quiet chats and murmurs between them by a lakeside or on a park bench....but this time Castiel had another reason to drop by in a drenched heap at Death’s doorstep...the irony of it all.
Looking like a wet kicked puppy, the young seraph stood there in the doorway, a muddy, wet mess. It was obvious he came from somewhere else instead of the city below them, though the skies were partly cloudy, there was not a hint of rain to speak of. No, it seemed like the angel had flown here from another part of the country entirety, making it more obvious he had come here specifically instead of the shelter the boys called home. He hadn’t sought out the Hunter’s at all. Castiel timidly approached when given consent to enter the old mans domain and silently allowed Death to drape a towel around his messy an disheveled form.
“Forgive my intrusion...I-...I truly had no other place to run to.” The ebony haired angel whispered.
“No, sir. I-...this isn’t the Winchester’s. I haven’t spoken to them of my ordeals. They don’t know I’m here nor are they the reason of my flight here. This is of a personal matter.” Castiel explained sheepishly. “I-...Father showed me a vision...a vision of the future I could not comprehend....It left me in a crisis. For what I saw was worse than dea-....” Castiel looked at Death, flinched and averted his gaze. “Eherm, well y’know.”
“I wished to confide with you...but please, the Hunter’s cannot know. They will worry and do something stupid as they always seem to do.
