Gavin's only "crime" is not liking machines that are replacing humans en masse and having enough of the blatant endangerment and favouritism in his workplace

Therefore, Gavin is objectively better?

Wow. Praising someone known for being a bully his whole life, while mocking a man going through a serious depressive breakdown — instead of helping him — sure does make him 'better' in this scenario. Truly inspiring.

Okay, lets start breaking everything down.

Hank is visibly drinking at the start of the game. He’s self-destructive, yes — but this is shown as part of a grief spiral, not played for laughs or dismissed.

He’s grieving the death of his son.

He’s not proud of it. He knows he’s a mess.

The game presents it as a problem, not a personality quirk.

It’s not good — but it’s human. And Hank doesn’t deny it. He changes.

Driving a car while being drunk?

Technically true — in one scene. But this is a single moment, meant to feel worrying. Connor is with him, watching closely. Hank doesn’t cause an accident, but yes — it’s reckless.

It’s shown as a sign that Hank is deeply unwell, not something to excuse — but also not something he repeats.

Also, if we talk about Partners chapter, he had hardly more than three glasses of whiskey. He wasn't showing any signs of high alcohol level. He was not even stumblink on his own tongue while talking, walking perfectly straight. Yes, he had alcohol in blood but he wasn't "drunk" and it was his only way how to get to the emergency murder place. Somebody gets hurt and needs to be get to hospital and you would worry about the only possible driver having two beers? And the EdenClub chapter where he WAS CLEARLY drunk ... it was CONNOR WHO WAS DRIVING!

"He pulls a gun on coworkers" is so silly.

Because it is blatantly exaggerated. Hank never points a gun at a coworker out of anger or threat in the actual game. He draws his weapon only in dangerous situations. Any scenes where he’s "threatening" are either fanon or misremembered. If the op meas the interrogation scene... Well, Gavin spends the time in the interrogation room watching Chris struggle to move the android, and then berates him without lifting a finger to help while yelling and swearing at Connor who is just trying to advise them. He escalated the situation for no reason. 

Also, the key point: Hank does not draw the gun first. He reacts to a direct threat to Connor’s life.

This isn’t anger or recklessness — it’s protection. He’s not waving his gun around because he’s unstable. He’s standing between a man and someone he wants to save.

Meanwhile, Gavin is the one who escalates with violence.

Also Gavin:

Actively shoves and physically confronts Connor. Tries to start a fistfight in front of other people.

Gavin is more physically aggressive in the precinct than Hank ever is.

If we talk avout the bridge scene... Yes, Hank may pull a gun on Connor — but:

It’s not a sudden act of aggression.

He asks questions first. He’s desperate for an answer.

In most outcomes, if Connor shows even a little humanity — Hank lowers the gun himself.

This is emotional climax, not violence. It’s a test. A challenge. He doesn’t want to shoot. He wants to understand.

So, basically, Hank pulls the gun twice. But both times it’s not out of rage or instability. It’s out of protection, fear, and emotional crisis. In fact, those scenes don’t make Hank “worse” — they show how much Connor matters to him. They show how hard Hank is trying to figure out who Connor really is — and what he himself still believes in.

Now, saying Hank's always late to work. Yes, it is true. Hank is late often. But again — it’s part of his downward spiral. It’s not glorified. The game doesn’t frame this as acceptable. It’s a symptom of depression and grief.

He doesn’t make excuses. He just doesn’t care — until he starts to heal.

Then this "he’s excused because he’s friends with the boss.”

Partially true, partially not. Captain Fowler does cut Hank some slack — but:

He also yells at him, warns him, and threatens to bench him.

It’s not favoritism — it’s loyalty and regret toward a former top-tier detective who’s fallen apart.

Fowler isn’t turning a blind eye because they’re friends. He’s trying to save someone he still believes in.

Now let’s talk about Gavin:

That’s not true.

What Gavin actually does:

Calls Connor slurs, repeatedly.

Physically provokes him in front of others.

Never shows growth, change, remorse, or empathy.

Enjoys his aggression and posturing.

Not liking androids is an opinion, indeed, yet harassing colleagues, starting fights, and dehumanizing others is already a behavior.

That’s not “frustration.” That’s hostility.

Also, lets go back to

Gavin being a dick to Hank doesn't count because hank isn't exactly a good man himself.

I thought this part is crystal clear based on info we gather in the game that Gavin is picking up on Hank bcs Hank is/was better than him at work and that hurts Gavin ego and he would do anything to get above in hierarchy, even stepping ON somebody while doing so. So he's trying to downgrade Hank by his behaviour while he's weak, to be able to top him in others' view. IT'S IN THE BIO!
