DBD! Ghostface x reader (soft fic) Warnings: None
Trepidation filled you as soon as the trial had started. Eyes boring into your back as you worked on a generator- yet you werenât sure if it was the killer or your teammates. You had the more solitary survivors in your group, and the atmosphere felt tense. You had heard talk at the survivors camp that the killers were merciless today- barely any of them escaping a trial even with the hatch. Everyone was on edge and you were sure the killer could feel as they stalked around. The lack of heartbeat was unnerving yet calming at the same time- your eyes darting around the area for any sign of movement as you crouched next to a generator. You had only hoped that it would be a good trial, yet the sinking feeling in your gut told you otherwise.
The sound of two generators roaring to life filled your ears, as did the usual scream of a survivor. They went down too quick, but there was no sound of a chainsaw- nothing to warrant such a quick kill. Your legs carried you to another generator, your focus elsewhere as your thoughts raced. It could be Danny, but you were unsure- maybe your hearing had failed you and it was someone else. You shook your head, the sound of another shriek filling your ears. You had to work fast. Your teammates were quickly taking their place on hooks, yet you hadnât heard the familiar scream from Jake yet. None of the hooks were being destroyed, and nobody was being saved. Guilt pulled at you, you had the chance to go for the first hook- yet you entrusted it to someone else and now the entity came down to collect their form. Three of you left, one on the hook, and Jake nowhere to be seen. You could barely come to a decision on whether to go to the hook or stay with the generator- your body making up for you. Running across the trial map for a hook seemed foolish, but you didnât want them to be left for dead either. It was selfish to leave them, so you settled to be altruistic.Â
You were so close to the hook, close enough to actually make a save. The killer was nowhere to be found, until you heard the sound of footsteps rapidly approaching. Your arms were outstretched, ready to grab dwight off the hook- until a body slammed into you. The air was forced out of your lungs as you fell against dwight, yanking his body down onto the hook more. Blood sprayed from the wound in his shoulder as he let out a pitiful cry. You could barely acknowledge what happened as the tendril from the entity pierced through dwight's chest, the look of a broken spirit etched into his face before his body became lifeless.Â
âShort on your luck, huh?â The voice sent chills down your spine as you lay in the dirt where the hook used to hang. Your eyes shifted, the white ghostface mask staring back at you. His form was crouched next to yours, his leather-clad hand moving to pet your hair softly. With a swift movement from his free hand, the mask was lifted to show his mouth as he spoke. âYou hate to see it, a survivor betrayed by their own teammate. What he doesnât realize is you were supposed to be last, and I donât appreciate him messing with my plan.â His head lowered closer to yours, your head lifting almost instinctively towards him to meet him in a short kiss. Your confusion slowly turned into anger as it dawned on you what happened. Jake was being chased, he purposely ran to find you and make sure he had a chance at hatch. He let the others die, just as he tried to do to you.Â
Tears burned at the corners of your eyes, frustration filling you as you stared up at Danny, his expressionless mask failing to hide the frown that pulled at his lips. A deep sigh escaped him before he sat in the dirt next to you, pulling your form off the ground and partially in his lap. âHe wonât be coming back, he thinks Iâm chasing you now. Rest for a bit, you look like youâre going to tear me apart or cry. Maybe both,â he murmured close to your ear, his hand rubbing your back as he held your head against his chest. You wanted to scream, to thrash and look for Jake, but you were tired. You failed your team and it was eating away at you- the tears threatening to spill over running down your cheeks. Your voice was hoarse and choked up as you spoke, âI failed them. I let them die, Iâm not a good survivor⌠I let them down.â You buried your face into his chest as more tears streamed down your face, your breath coming in choppy inhales and shaky exhales. His body stiffened before he relaxed against you, the sound of his mask hitting the dirt catching your attention- his hand suddenly gripping your hair to pull your head up so you were looking at him. His gaze met yours, the intensity in his expression making you worry you had upset him until his eyes softened ever so slightly. âYou didnât fail them, how could you know you had a selfish brat on your team? I caught dwight at the hook, he was trying to save so you canât say itâs all your fault. You were only doing what you could to survive and help the team- and thatâs a lot more than you can say about bird boy.. I swear I saw a crow in his hair the whole time I was chasing himâŚâ His lips pressed against your cheek in a quick kiss, his fingers running through your hair as he continued to stare down at you. You couldnât help the smile that flashed across your features, even if the situation was shitty, you couldnât help but feel happier around him. None of the survivors knew about the relationship yet, and you planned to keep it that way- especially after what Jake had done.
The sound of a generator popping broke the silence between you both, your body relaxing against his form as you stared in the distance of where the generator lit up. His lips pressed against your head in another quick kiss before he questioned, â do you want me to leave you alone for now? I donât have to if you donât want me to, but the itch to go after a certain survivor is driving me mad. I could take pictures for you, I always have my camera ready when Iâm working. Iâm sure youâd love to see him whimpering in pain from my knife.â Normally his words would have upset you, the thought of seeing another survivor being tortured wasnât something you liked- but this time you wanted to see some sort of payback. It was a selfish and disgusting desire, but you couldnât deny how pissed you were when you were so close to helping a teammate. âJust⌠Sit with me for a little longer. Please? I want him to feel so close to getting out before you crush that hope,â you responded, your arms wrapping around him in a tight hug as you sniffled- your tears from earlier drying on your skin. A grin spread across his face at your answer, his arm snaking around you protectively as he cooed, âI knew I loved you for a good reason. Youâre just the perfect survivor. Sweet.. But unforgiving.â His free hand ran through your hair once more, his gaze shifting to look down at your relaxed form. If only he could take a picture before what he had to do.Â
