Ella exhaled a sigh of relief and she took her sister’s hands in her own. ❝ Thank you… ❞ She wrapped her arms around her in a hug before widening her eyes. ❝ Oh, I have so much to catch you up on. Please, you must come with me and I’ll show you around the palace. ❞
She saw no reason her sister needed to apologize. Their separation was not her doing. They had struggled together to get to her sister’s land. Rather, it was Ella’s land too, she just could never remember it. When they had made it back, even though her sister insisted the king, her husband — Kit she remembered his name barely — would help them. She never said it, but she often doubted her sister, thinking she was exaggerating her claim. But Ella had been wrong, her sister was indeed married, royal by marriage and loved well. It felt strange to be clean, to wear clean clothes, and not fear sleeping. “I cannot wait to see your home.” When she said it, a slight pang filled her gut. Home... she didn’t have one now. What would she do with her life? “I- I would like to see where our parents are buried... please?”
