12. Did any books inspire you to create?
is it a cheesy answer if I say craft books made me want to craft more? not all of them. I read one needlepoint book from the 70s that felt a bit pointless. but the latest embroidery book I borrowed from the library really made me want to embroider some flowers.
real answer, no. I have definitely spun some stories out from things I've read but I haven't written them down or hammered out any points. they've just been nice little stories in my head.
18. Some books you bought this year?
interesting. I should crack open my kobo app and see what I've bought. I've borrowed a lot from various libraries and listened to some others.
I'm leaving out my book club books. they make up a good half of the books I've bought this year but they also make me immediately identifiable to anyone else from book club.
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. the big fancy audio spectacular version of book one. I had to download a separate app just to listen to it. I was so annoyed.
Did Ye Hear Mammy Died by Seamas O'Reilly
Strong Female Character by Fern Brady (I haven't read it yet)
Snowblooded by Emma Sterner-Radley. I have no idea why I bought this book. I haven't read it, I don't want to read it, but it's an ebook and I can't even fob it off onto someone else
I also got a pile of secondhand books from a friend but I haven't opened any of them yet.
and as per the previous ask, I did buy Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die. I haven't received/read it yet
23. What new releases did you read this year?
I don't want to be rude but I rarely know when a book was published. sometimes I'll see a book I'd like in the library and think about taking it out but the waiting list is really long. most of the time it's because it was a new book
books I know were published this year:
Hammajang Luck by Makana Yamamoto. it looks like it was published in 2024 in the US but 2025 over here.
The Prosecutor by Jack Fairweather
Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green
This Bright Life by Karen Campbell
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
A Drop of Corruption by Robert Jackson Bennett
Human Rites by Juno Dawson
Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams
Picture Imperfect by Jacqueline Wilson
Lucky Day by Chuck Tingle
I went through my read list this from this year and searched all the ones I thought were recent. I didn't bother with books I know were published 5-20 years ago (or 200). I'm mostly going with what goodreads says, even though I don't use the site
