I love posting about bands from lesser known areas. Daycones are from Tuscon, Arizona and they have cultivated quite a diverse sound. Don’t get me wrong, this is “lo-fi”, but Daycones have many touchstones to their sound. I can hear sounds as varied (yes, these are almost all in the indie/alt/pop vein) as Lab Coast, Guided By Voices, The Bibs, Velvet Underground, The Hecks (listen to the guitar on some songs), Cleaners From Venus, Departmentstore Santas, and Crystal Stilts. I just didn’t feel like I could leave out any of those perceived influences.
Daycones has been steadily releasing singles and several full-length albums for about two years—the most recent of which, The Cruel Echo, was released in November of 2014.
