I tend to get frustrated w/ my mom's proclivity to make requests beyond what’s presented (e.g. asking for customized menu items [though she does do this to a lesser degree now]) b/c I imagine the burden we’re adding onto others (probably the Asian side of me), but it’s a habit birthed from the same trait that causes her to readily pray for some specific things for herself and for the rest of us, and she gets answered w/ a quick yes a surprising number of times! Maybe God’s honoring her childlike faith and delights in her seeing him as the Good Father he is. She also ends up receiving special favor from other people, and there were 2 instances of that this past week. The first was when dad and I were waiting in line at the library on Monday for solar glasses while mom fed her interest in a NASA scientist’s telescope and socialized with its owner. Before long, she came back w/ 3 solar glasses hidden in her jacket b/c the scientist apparently got her 3 pairs for us and told her not to advertise the fact. This allowed me to leave and get to work on time.
