Jean had one of the biggest character developments.
The reason why I think this is because he was first portrayed to be some kind of a bad guy (that was my first reaction to him, I at some point, during the firsts few episodes, thought he was one of the warriors). But then Marco's death happened, and that was when he started to change entirely. I was really happy, not about Marco's death, but because Isayama gave him a reason to change.
Jean matured so much now, he judged eren so easily even though he knew the reason behind his actions. (calling eren an idiot for wanting to join the scouts when he was just hearing the story of erens experience in wall Maria). I like how that changed and now we have a Jean that considers Eren a friend.
Jean cares deeply about his friends, An example can be his reaction to Sasha's death and being really concern about Eren hurting Mikasa even though she was saying it was ok.
This is why he's one of my favorite aot characters.

I don't get the hype for Armin, he's way too smart and self centered.
Someone please tell me I read that wrong...
I get the smart part, sometimes smart people can be annoying to some.
But how is Armin self centered? He literally would give his own life for his friends and even a stranger, didn't you watch season 1? He was willing to give Mikasa his gas because he believed she should be the one saving and helping others, that they didn't need him because he was “weak and useless” Armin was ready to die. or in season 2/3 when he killed someone to save Jean! (If I'm not mistaken it was Jean.)
Armin has never been self centered, I don't know where you got that from. I consider Armin a selfless person.

Jean!! The wish he had about a peaceful life says it all. he can cook, he can clean! You just sit down and take care of the children 😤. He believes children are a big deal, and you can only do either chores or looking out for the kids, never both.
