I'm loving this picture because David Silva and Mikel Oyarzabal are my past and my present in football fandom.
I used to be so in love with David Silva when I was a teen, around 2008-2010, and I followed him in the Premier League when he went to Manchester City. Football was very important to me in that time, because everything around me was falling apart (high school problems, my parents' divorce...) and it was the only thing that distracted me.
Right now, I'm 16 years later, I have had a similar breakdown at 30, and I've reconnected with football. Mikel Oyarzabal caught my eye during the world cup tournament and right now I'm feeling the same I felt with David Silva at 15. I was so happy to realize they have played together, and won a Copa del Rey.
This season I will have to follow Real Sociedad as well as Barça and the Spanish team, because they have had my two favorite players in their roster. Maybe the next one I'll fall in love will be one of them as well.
