I haven't actually started drawing him yet (despite having gathered references for him a few days ago) so his design is still kinda up in the air but
I just keep imagining that Elise finds out David is colorblind because she mentions something he wears being purple & he's like "what do you MEAN it's purple? I could've sworn that it's red!" & she briefly argues with him like "how could you possibly interpret that shade of purple as anything even close to red! You must be damn colorblind" and he's just like "well... yeah. I am. That's what these glasses are for."
And she takes a moment to absorb that information before saying "if those are color correction lenses, then that still doesn't explain why the hell you thought that color was red."
"They aren't a perfect solution, tritanopia is rare even amongst other sorts of colorblindness! ....also I just didn't pay that close enough attention to it. I mean, are constantly aware of what colors you're wearing?"
"As a matter of fact, yes."
