You didn’t even get the chance to fully step inside before you were tackled. The door barely clicked shut behind you when a blur of movement launched itself at you, arms wrapping tight around your shoulders, nearly knocking the breath out of your lungs. “I MISSED YOUUUU!” You stumbled back with a tired laugh, instinctively catching the weight now clinging to you like a damn koala. “Aidan—” “Nope,” he cut you off immediately, peppering rapid-fire kisses across your cheek, your jaw, wherever he could reach. “Don’t care. I’m not letting go. You’ve been gone for years. I almost died.”
You snorted, dropping your work bag to the floor while adjusting your grip on him. “It was nine hours.” “Exactly. Nine hours too long!” he whined, tightening his legs around your waist like he was afraid you’d vanish again if he loosened up even a little. “Do you know how boring it is without you? Twitch chat bullied me, my game crashed twice, and I had to microwave my own food like a peasant.” “Oh, the horror,” you teased, finally managing to toe off your shoes despite him clinging onto you for dear life. “I’m serious! I was this close to showing up at your job and demanding visitation rights.” His lips brushed your ear as he spoke, voice all dramatic and pouty.
You could already feel the tension from work melting off your shoulders, replaced by that familiar warmth only Aidan could bring. As exhausting as his energy could be, coming home to this was something you’d never complain about. “Alright, alright,” you sighed with a smile, shifting your hold as you started walking toward the couch. “But if you’re gonna latch onto me like this, at least let me sit down before my legs give out.” Daukey grinned against your skin, clearly satisfied with himself. “Fine. But I’m not moving.” “I figured.” You collapsed onto the couch with him still wrapped around you, his arms now loosely draped around your neck as he stared at you with those annoyingly pretty eyes and a smug little smile. His hair was a mess—probably from running his hands through it during whatever chaos he got into today—but he still looked way too cute for someone who’d just spent the entire day gaming and being dramatic.
“I’m serious though,” he said, voice softer now as he leaned in to nuzzle your neck. “I really did miss you.” Your chest tightened a little at that, your fingers instinctively threading through his hair as you exhaled slowly. “I missed you too, clingy.” “Damn right.” He tilted his head back just enough to look at you again, a playful glint in his eyes. “Now, tell me everything about your day while I cuddle the life out of you. And don’t leave out the part where you thought about me at least twenty times.” You laughed, shaking your head. “Bold of you to assume I wasn’t too busy.” “Rude.” He gasped, placing a hand over his heart like you’d just mortally wounded him. “After everything we’ve been through?”
You couldn’t help but lean down and kiss his forehead, effectively shutting him up for a moment—not that it lasted long. The second your lips left his skin, he was right back at it, grinning like a fool. “Admit it. You thought about me.” “…Maybe once or twice,” you teased. “HA! I knew it.” You let him have his victory as he snuggled impossibly closer, arms fully wrapped around your torso now, his head resting comfortably against your chest. His constant stream of chatter filled the room—stories about his stream, some dumb argument he had with chat, how he accidentally knocked over a drink and almost cleaned it up right away.
It was domestic. Chaotic. So him. And honestly? After a long day like today, there was nowhere else you’d rather be than stuck under your clingy, dramatic, way-too-affectionate boyfriend.
Eventually, his words started to slow, his breathing evening out as the exhaustion caught up to both of you. You smiled softly, glancing down to see his eyes fluttering shut, still holding onto you like you might disappear again if he let go.
“Love you,” he mumbled, barely audible.
You pressed another kiss to his hair, whispering back, “Love you too, Aidan.”
And just like that, the chaos settled into quiet comfort—the best way to end a long day.
