Yes they do, and one I think is especially wonderful during the holidays. The reason the mistletoe is so popular is because it was thought to restore fertility and healing back in the 1st Century AD. You sound discouraged about relationships and therefore I want to remind you that when you set your bar high in search for a partner you will date less, but the people you do date will be higher quality. There is someone out there for you, and when you find him make sure you kiss under the mistletoe.

Dear Tory,
I have some ideas that can help you, but mostly what parents like to see is a woman who treats their son with respect and is gracious and polite with them. Here are a few more.
Be prepared…dress respectfully and know ahead of time a few things about them so you can have a conversation with them. Make it about them, not you. Don’t overshare or hog the conversation. Refrain from being a know it all. Don’t exhibit too much PDA (your boyfriend may not feel as affectionate in front of his parents). Lastly, pay attention to what you feel during the get together, as this is important information in regards to the health of your relationship with this person. You will leave them with a lasting impression as well, so offer to help, listen more than you speak, and enjoy the evening.
