Prosperity in the Metro Boston Region
Metro Boston is one of the most economically powerful regions in the world and yet it ranks among the nation’s worst for income inequality. Our region’s prosperity depends on economic growth and security for all of our businesses and families. This panel looks at prosperity and wealth in Boston at the regional and local scale. The Boston Indicators Project presents on the various measures of opportunity that attempt to identify opportunity dynamics of a region. The Metropolitan Area Planning Council presents findings from their Regional Prosperity Indicators that show how the region is faring compared to other metropolitan areas and how prosperity plays out differently for different industries and communities within the region. The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston presents findings from The Color of Wealth in Boston, a detailed report on wealth inequality in Boston by race and ethnicity.
