Dashilar is also the center of entertainment in the old city. Opera theatres mushroomed here. One of them has been converted into a cinema, in fact the first in Beijing, called Da Guan Lou. I’m a big movie buff so seeing a cinema exist in such a historical building was a real treat. OK. This as a souvenir ain’t a bad idea. If you’re hunting for cheesy souvenirs, then there’s this emporium on Dashilan that makes choosing one intensely difficult. There’s way too many options. Personally, I don’t quite like the cheesy little junk that’s on display.
