Vice UK’s fashion editor and Vice Style editor, Daryoush Haj-Najafi is an accomplished journalist, consultant and sits on the London Fashion Week Topman-sponsored MAN judging panel. While studying economics and politics at Westminster University Haj-Naiafi began interning at The Face. Jumping from the fashion cupboard to journalism, he went from The Face to associate editor of Pop and has since written for AnotherMan, Arena Homme Plus, Dazed & Confused, Fantastic Man, i-D, The New York Time and more. Daryoush Haj-Najafi found time to talk to Apartment58.

You studied Economics and politics, did you always wanted to be an editor?

Yes, Kind of. I knew I wanted to write and work at a magazine, not necessarily the fashion part. I wanted to get my opinion to the world.

You currently write for various magazines including AnotherMan, Arena Homme Plus, Dazed & Confused, Fantastic Man, i-D, Tokion, The New York Times, V-Man and Zoo, do you adapt your style to each of them?

I don’t think you should adapt your style too much. I guess sometimes depending on the magazine, you have to be much more formal or conversational and it can be hard, but as long as it is interesting to the reader and the magazine it should be fine.

Is there any topic that you particularly like writing about?

I really like writing about nightclubs! 

You sit on the MAN panel, a Topman sponsored body that chooses new menswear talent to show, anyone we should watch out for?

Right now I am very interested in platforms that help emerging designers providing a space for them to grow. I really like what Primitive is doing at the moment. It a concept store that sells pieces from great upcoming designers.

Best spot in London to shop?

Oh gosh, most of the clothes that I have/wear were presents - but otherwise I normally shop in markets.

How would you describe your apartment?

I live in a factory space and I have a lot of parties in there. I would say it is a party place!
