I went against doctors orders because I had mono at the time. I hung back most of the show in a mono-y haze but I remember the excitement of planetary so clearly. So happy I went even though, well, mono.

…even worse when you had to do it over and over in a tiny, hot as balls venue at the video shoot show thing. Shit was tiring as heck but also the best cause that song and it’s vibes and giving it your all <3

it was one of the most uncomfortable yet amazing concert experiences ever. people fainting, hair pulled, bodies squished, couldn’t breathe. but so amazing and so close to our idols.

I heard that you're settled down, that you found a girl and you're married now...
Ellie: "I've made a terrible error" should be my life's tagline.
Me: that's why we go so well together! My tagline is, "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
Ellie: Collectively our tagline is, "....oops."
Pictures
I've always wished I could create a picture just by blinking my eyes. Sitting here, looking out the window of this bookstore at the street below, I wish I could take a picture of this for you. An honest picture. With cameras, reality gets distorted. The lighting, the zoom, the focus, the colors – it’s all wrong. I've done the photography thing. For my birthday my father bought me a beautiful camera. For months I went out, snapping shots of people, places, things, anything. The pictures were never right.
I don’t know if you understand.
I was upset if the picture came out better than the thing was in real life, even. It felt dishonest to show these photographs. To say, “This is my life.” And everyone would say, “How beautiful! How amazing! How lovely!” And I would always think, yes it was beautiful. But not like this. Really, the colors were duller, the edges were softer, the lighting was harsher. It was beautiful, but in a very real way.
Do you see what I’m saying?
But if we could snap shots with our eyes. If, right now, I could take a picture of this beautiful woman walking down the street, trying not to slip on the ice. I just wish you could see this the way I see this. I wish I could see things the way you see things.
Then maybe we could understand each other.
If we could take pictures….If I could have taken a picture of you on the floor of my fathers spare room, with that beer in your hand. If I could have taken a picture of you running ahead of me in the street, singing so loudly. Of you sitting across the dining room table from me, crying. Of us playing cards in the tent your mother gave us, the wind blowing so heavily that the roof kept hitting your head. A picture of you next to me at a speakeasy bar, as you smiled and rubbed your knee against mine. Of you in the seat next to me, driving our favorite road, our favorite song playing, windows down. A picture of you walking along the beach at midnight. Of us sitting on the green and white couch with the chocolate ice cream stain, you laughing at something I said. Of us walking around the lake with snow in our boots. A picture of you sitting across from me in your Portland apartment, wondering who was going to make the first move. A picture of tiny, little you reaching out for my hand as we walked into the movies. A picture of you walking through the kitchen singing “All You Need is Love.”
In these moments. These beautiful, fleeting moments I wish I could have blinked and forever had a photograph. And I wish I could show you this picture so you could see yourself the way I did. The colors were perfect, the lines around your mouth when you smiled were all there, the lighting would be just as it was – not diluted or enhanced, just as it really was. Because as it really was, as you really were, in these moments, you were beautiful.

I Did Float Back Up
My name is Denver. Darling Denver, if you need two. I am a twenty-something and living outside of Portland, Oregon (yes, it really is just as great as they say it is.) I am a writer of fictions, a thing I've been doing for ten years. A thing I am still not too good at but trying desperately. I read, but not as much as I should. I watch too much Netflix and listen to music from the early 2000's mostly. I drink a lot of beer. A lot. A lot. I'm starting to get fat, actually. So now I try yoga and running. So I can drink more beer. IPA, to be specific.
So, to sum this up.
(Darling) Denver. Twenty-something. Portland,Oregon - sort of. Writer. Reader. Netflix. MCR. Beer. "Yoga". "Running". Lagunitas. It's really nice to meet you, Friend.
Love, Darling Denver.
