Enrichment and social interaction is important if you wish to keep any living creature calm and complacent. Denying your subjects such things when they act out is just going to make things worse. A more tempered approach would be better. A temporary removal of one favored object with the promise of its return if the subject behaves well. Rewarding good behavior with treats and longer social interactions. Train them to want to be good, to associate the behavior you want with things they enjoy.
