i want to make something clear: i don’t dislike or judge anyone who listens to chappell roan (i like a couple songs myself i am not immune to catchy pop).
her uncle is personally responsible for stripping the trans affirming care away from my best friend’s daughter and when it happened she texted me “my daughter doesn’t have four years”. so her sudden shift from being political to being apolitical is not something i stand by. trust me, all celebrities suck. i’m a gaga fan, she has plenty to criticize. she isn’t perfect either. chappell and her uncle just hit way too close to home for me, literally. right across state lines. idc if he’s your uncle when you have the money to safely cut that family member off forever and never have to worry about a social or financial safety net.
that’s something that a majority of trans folk in missouri and kansas can’t be certain of.
i do believe if you stand up for trans rights that the second you know what your republican uncle is doing or did you owe it to your community to put him on blast. do you not think we would protect you?
i have grown up around cis gays now for long enough to learn many of them would rather be accepted by cisgender straights than queers.
i love you clover. 🍀 i will always support you. you will always have community even if i have to dig it myself with my shitty bitten nails directly into the concrete.
