Thanks for your question. I watched a bit of S2. I think I went about half way and then stopped. The episode with the alien ship about to take off with Alex on it was about one of my last episodes. I did try a few episodes after that somewhere and in S3, but it never convinced me to come fully back.

I never felt Sam as a character at all. I for a second thought they were going to do the instant family thing and have Sam killed off and Alex run off with the kid. I’m glad that didn’t happen, but yeah... I dunno. Sam was yet another character being thrust towards becoming a superhero or a villain in S2 which I did not need. 

If anything (and forgive me if you heard this one before), I would have only added Lena to the season. (Well, I guess Mon-Ew could have stayed if they just kept him on as the airhead fuckboy for comedic relief and that was that...) 

I think Alex and Lena actually had potential and they would have been able to tie together all those different diverging storylines. Kara would have been torn between wanting to have a new friend in Lena, but also being jealous of the time Alex was giving her. There would have been a whole other layer to all interactions and Alex would not have been isolated in her own gay storyline like she was in S2. 

Not sure if the fandom would have been less obnoxious, however...

Either way, we all know there’s only one endgame and that’s Kara and Alex. Them on the couch is the only acceptable ending to this show. It’s just how it is, I don’t write the rules.

Okay, so seeing Alex talk to her younger self in the most recent ep, I’m now imagining The Adventures of Big Alex and Little Alex (and Big Kara and Little Kara), where 17/18-year-old versions of Kara and Alex were saved during Crisis and eventually show up in National City.

Ensuing shenanigans could include:

- Surly teen!Alex hating her older self for not maintaining her resolve to Hate Kara Forever And Live Her Own Life, while simultaneously adoring adult!Kara (a fact she doesn’t bother to hide, but also doesn’t feel warrants explanation or introspection, so everyone should just mind their own business).

- Kara Jr. outwardly giving Alex Jr. just as much disdain as Alex gives her, but still following her around like a puppy whenever she can.

- Big Kara teaching Little Kara how to control her powers (especially the heat-vision reflex, cause fire hazard).

- Little Kara having absolutely no clue what to make of this older version of Alex that seems to have made a sharp about-face when it comes to their sisterhood for absolutely no discernible reason and, while she tolerates her older-self’s expertise on their powers and the state of this world, she’s incredibly weary of older!Kara’s lack of concern that Alex had ultimately been forced to give up her dreams in order to adhere to her parents wishes of taking care of Kara.

- closeted-teen!Alex finding out how badly her older self failed Heterosexuality 101, and she Does Not Take It Well (at first).

- Alex forcibly dragging AJ to The Tower with her during the day because she learns quickly that an idle baby!Alex is....dangerously capable of breaking into Maxwell Lord’s research facility on a whim because, “I hate his smarmy face and it seemed fun.”

- “Do you want me to call Eliza,” as a genuine threat to get the teens to cease whatever behavior they’re doing.

- Younger Alex and Kara sharing quiet moments, and mayhaps Alex is curious about kissing girls and maybe Kara is very willing to help her out so a thing happens, a habit occurs, a bit of a routine, and ample opportunity to get caught...perhaps by an older Alex who’s Very Done with her younger self’s antics toward the younger Kara and doesn’t give her motives a lot of benefit of the doubt and the ensuing fallout is big and loud and ends with the Karas comforting their respective Alexs.

- Older Alex trying to reconcile, 1) not wanting to give credit to the parental pressure she herself endured, and 2) not wanting her emotionally reckless younger self to take advantage of the version of Kara that would do anything for Alex’s approval.

- Older Kara talking Alex though it and treading a thin line between, “Trust younger-me to make her own decisions,” and “I was desperately in love with you back then; little-me definitely wants what little-you is offering.”

- Alex the Younger immensely enjoying how deeply uncomfortable Alex the Elder gets any time she mentions all those oh-shit-I-was-super-gay-for-Kara moments that Older Alex still refuses to make eye-contact with (“Remember when she fought us for the remote and her chest was right--” “I know six different ways to render you unconscious with one hand; don’t tempt me.”).

- Older Kara wondering if her own Alex would’ve wanted--

Okay, no, I have to stop or I’ll just end up writing the whole damn fic in a bulleted list.
