just finished the long walk. in one sitting.
finished my first disturbing horror book and yeah, that really is not for me. despite it being written by a woman, the violence was still gratuitous mainly towards women and it really makes me question why women must be the main targets and sufferers in this genre. the male victims in the book didn’t remotely get the same treatment that the female victims did
i absolutely love this thing between us !! "the book of the most precious substance" was a novel that gave me similar vibes. i can't even really remember why lol but i liked it and you might also....
if i'm giving you recommendations i have to point out "all the white spaces" as supernatural/survival polar exploration horror
randomly i feel like you might like the works of akwaeke emezi as well
unfortch i don't read a lot of short stories so i don't have much to offer you in that regard. but if you like otessa moshfegh im currently reading mcglue which is a short novella by her and would love to know your thoughts on it
ok thats all for now :-)
SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG FOR ME TO ANSWER omg
thank you for all the recs!!! i do have “all the white spaces” on my tbr list (thank you terror camp) but “mcglue” is one i definitely plan on checking out, i love the way otessa writes. and i will definitely check akwaeke emezi; freshwater looks very interesting so I’m adding that to my tbr list too along with “the book of the most precious substance” <3
