Daniel Harold Rolling was an American serial killer who murdered five students in Gainesville, Florida over 4 days in late August 1990. Rolling later confessed to further murders and his victim count is thought to be 8.

Danny Rolling was born in Louisiana to a father who told him he was unwanted and abused his mother. As a teenagers he was arrested several times for robberies and struggled to hold down a job or fit in with society. In May 1990, he attempted to kill his father during an argument resulting in his dad losing an eye and an ear.

In August 1990, Rolling murdered five students during a burglary and robbery spree. On 24th August he broke into an apartment and killed two more students, raping one of them and posing the bodies in sexually provocative poses. A day later, Rolling bound, rapped and killed another student, posing her head on a shelf. On 27th August Rolling raped and murdered another young student, again posing her body, he also killed the girl’s boyfriend. With the exception of the final victim’s boyfriend all of the victims were petite, Caucasians with brown hair and brown eyes. On 7th September 1990, Rolling was arrested on a burglary charge and his tools were matched to marks at the murder scenes.

Rolling was charged and claimed his motive was the become a ‘superstar like Ted Bundy,’ he pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced to death. Before being executed Rolling was questions about an unsolved triple murder in Florida which he claimed responsibility for. Rolling was executed by lethal injection on 25th October 2006. He had a last meal of lobster tail.
