"Sparkling insight" my English teacher insist, "sparkling insight is the key to any good English student." Preparing for my AP English test, my awesome teacher instilled in us this idea of bringing something new, something refreshing, something thoughtful to the topic on each of the essays. "No one wants to read or hear about something they already know; they want something they have to consider and rethink, something they can question or have agreement on."Â
The idea of "sparkling insight" is something we can apply to all areas of life, other than just an AP English test. I think everywhere you go, on any matter, you should look for your own glimpse of glitter in the situation. Whether it is problem solving, conversation or invention, I believe the importance of imagination and originality is incredibly important, but often overlooked. We rely so much on the math and sciences and logics of things, that it is often difficult to come up with our own creative thoughts. However, I feel that in order to really succeed and advance upon things, we should learn to be more "out there" and even risky.Â
Whether it's looking at something bending over and sticking your head upside-down and viewing from the bottom by your feet, doodling the title instead of writing it, or taking the backroads home, I think we should try new things and try taking a new approach. Something new can always be said and that something is valued, by employers, students and peers. "Shimmering perception," right? Â
