The lull between move in time and the Welcome Roundup expired quickly, and before anyone knew it, everyone was gathered around the stage eager to be introduced to the counselors and the itinerary for their week at camp.
"Good morning and sul, sul, Camp Longhorn campers! I'm Head Counselor Hecking, and I'm so excited that we're all going to be spending the week together!" Head Counselor Hecking gave them the warmest and most enthusiastic welcome.
"The theme for your week is adventure and discovery. We are going to realize that theme with one structured event a day. We're talking motor advancement through swim time and treehouse building, creative development in the art center, and athletic gains hiking and tree climbing."
"Outside of structured events, you'll have free time to explore activities individually and make friends with your fellow campers. And don't neglect that part, campers! You may only be here a week, but the friendships you make here will last you a lifetime."
"Now here to assist me in guiding you all through this amazing week are my junior counselors standing next to me. Each one of them will be in charge of your guided events and will be on standby if you need help during your free time. Give Libbie, Daniel, M, and Evie a hearty sul sul!"
All of the campers gave the counselors their heartiest sul suls, but one hello in particular immediately caught Evie's eye.
It was Cordelia, waving to what would seem only one counselor in particular, and Evie could tell exactly where her gaze was fixated.
After she noticed Cordelia's infatuated gaze, she couldn't ignore it for the rest of the roundup.
For the rest of Head Counselor Hecking's speech, she witnessed Cordelia sighing over and over with her lovesick stricken stare focused only on one person.
And the most frustrating part was that Mimi seemed completely oblivious to it.
Again.
She'd thought Mimi had talked to her about it, but clearly something got lost in translation. Evie internally sighed. She'd have to talk to them again about it. This problem could not go on.
The handsome Daniel Tan,
I really fell in love with this man. Head over heels, irrevocably in love. At first, he appears distant and some people may even view him as arrogant. I can assure you, he is anything but. He is very quite at first but not timid and speaks in such a way, that bewitchingly, grabs your attention. I won't deny it makes me jealous. The way other people feel captivated by him the way I do.
Any who, I wouldn't go so far as to say he is shy, he loves mingling and socialising but values his own company and like his own space. His type of person? Everyone and all: introvert, extrovert, rich or poor, sunshine and rainbows, gloomy and pessimistic, it doesn't matter. He isn't overly judgemental about who you are, rather your principles. That is one of the many reason I am so in love with him. He would never force himself to stay where he is not valued, or where he does not value others. That may have cost him a great deal in the business world but he seems not to care. Its an admirable quality. To be that fearless of others judgment. He knows exactly what he wants from life, from a relationship and from himself. He holds others to high standards and holds himself to even higher standards. He just isn't forceful when taking what he wants. Daniel is reasonable, intiuative and respective although he has a bad temper. Contradictive, maybe? Humans are made up of contradictions, and he is no exception. But I love this man. He is one like no other. He is passionate about what he believes in. A forward thinker and abides by the principle that setting the example is the only way to move forward. He inspires me. Its very hard for him to give up control, to let life sweep him up, hopefully in time I can show him that way of life is not so bad. Maybe we can run away together. Hopefully, he will notice me.
That is why, I Rose Fitzgerald, intercepted his letter to you Frances. I write to you, knowing enough time has passed and that my sweet Daniel won't be swayed by your beauty and non-conformity. I am in love with him you see. That is the truth of the matter. Soon, he will realise he is in love with me too.

I made Daniel Tan with the soul purpose of submitting him as a potential suitor for the flapperette challenge. I was highly inspired by this challenge, as someone who usually creates women, something about the 1920's really inspired me. Alas, four men were born. Although, I never submitted Daniel Tan, I was nervous of overflooding the candidate pool and wanted everyone to have a fair chance. I still wanted to post him, one because I was proud of him and two just on the of chance anyone else would like to take a peak at him.
He is 23. Born on the 11 of April in Windenburg. He is of Malaysian decent and the middle child of four. His oldest brother died in war and it is said that this is the reason for his bad temper. His family consist of his two sisters, mother and father, who reside on a small but lavish house, on top of a hill, on the outskirts of Windenburg. He will be a detective and his middle class background will allow him to pursue his full potential. Currently, he is learning the ropes of the family business, one which was built from the bare hands of his great, great grandmother. What business, you may ask? Well that would be telling and what is the fun in that?
Traits: Hot-headed. Loves outdoors. Active.
Daniel has an appreciation for theatre and poetry, fine cuisine and nature.

But it would seem Daniel would be finding out the answers first hand before Libbie could get a chance.
"That's one hell of a painting. You're pretty good!" He gushed.
"This? No way. It's pretty garbage. I don't paint often."
"I'm only doing it now to blow off quite a bit of frustration. If you wanna see good painting, you should see what my mom can do. She's a pretty talented professional. I'm nowhere close."
"I see. Well you're better than me. I'm Daniel, by the way. One of the other counselors."
"Nice to meet you. I'm M." Mimi replied.
"Ohhhh, so you're the mysterious, M! My friend Libbie and I were so curious about counselor number 4. An initial for a name and no gender."
"That's me."
"Yeah, but if you had to check a box, what it would be?"
"Easy. N/A."
"Look, I get it. Non-binary is non-binary. But you operated on a binary at one point in your life, right? So which one was it? Were you using the little boys room or the little girls room?"
"I was using the toilet like a good little soldier."
"OK, but in that bathroom there were bahhh, or maybe girrrrr…."
"I'm getting the impression we're not going to get along all that well."
"What? I'm just ribbing ya! Fine I'll lay off. But I will figure you out."
"Yeah, we're definitely not getting off to a great start, Dan."
"Did I just hear my name?" Daniel said as he plopped himself beside them. "Hopefully only good things are being said." He teased.
"No one's talking about you, Daniel. Evie and I were just girl chatting, right Evie?"
"Sure." Evie would keep Libbie's secret crush quiet, for now.
"Well, while you two were girl chatting, I was suncreening to keep all of this burn free. Where's M at? Doing the same thing?"
"No. I don't think so." Evie spoke up. "They went to go see Head Counselor Hecking about a mix up with their swimsuit. They should be here soon."
"Well, don't you ladies worry. I'm more than enough to keep you company till they get here."
"Entertained? Daniel, I think you're confused." Evie rose an eyebrow.
"Evie's right, Daniel. We're supposed to be watching the kids." Libbie giggled.
"Well, I can do both!" He assured.
While they waited on M, Daniel moved closer to Libbie. Which Libbie totally, definitely was completely OK with, evidenced by her heavy breathing, sweaty palms and stiff smile the second he scooched next to her. All things that did not go unnoticed by Evie 😅
Daniel had finally made it to the mess hall for breakfast that morning, but was instantly off guard to find Libbie and Mimi not just sitting together, but looking quite chummy.
He knew she and Evie had been starting to become friends, but she hadn't mentioned anything about M.
He wasted no time making himself comfy in the seat across the table from there.
"Hey, what's so funny?" He said as he sat down. "Seems like I must have walked in on something he rose an eyebrow."
"Oh, morning, Daniel." Libbie smiled. "It's nothing really."
"Nothing, huh? Sure doesn't seem like nothing." He pried more.
"Libbie's, right, Dan. We were just discussing me getting the last drops of Libbie's soda. She wanted to make sure I didn't miss a drop."
"Oh, M, the way you're making it sound!" Libbie laughed nervously.
Daniel had no idea what they were talking about, but he laughed along nervously with them to make them think he was in on the joke.
"Now Daniel, don't tell me, you want me to get all the last drops of Libbie's soda? Cause I can, ya know." Mimi rose an eyebrow.
"What? Oh, um, well—" Daniel stammered.
"Relax. Her soda is perfectly untouched, free for you to open when you finally work up the nerve."
Daniel was sure he lost the plot on this metaphor, in any case it seemed he had nothing to worry about—for now.
