Welp, I totally missed the boat on Uwasa no Narushii because I was too focused on Bibitaru Ichigeki, but today I saw the Kamiko Upcoming session, and well then The middle between Dua Lipa pastiche retro-disco and city pop, Angerme finally working with the Nordics after Juice=Juice had the style on lock (especially with the Yamashita covers). I'm cautious about this style invading H!P, because while Dua Lipa is enjoyable, she's also consistently 2 steps short of the unabashed earnest sincerity I want out of my Jpop. And indeed, while the cool smoothness of Uwasa no Narushii washes over nice the first listen, it gets emptier with every repeat, a mere 1-bite appetizer for a main course that will never come. (Like, just compare to the unrestrained wild joy of Bibitaru Ichigeki! Now that is a full meal.) "That's it?" (Also, I have been promised by the credits that Taisei is on the chorus, but dokko???????)
