He won them three of those points
Brother: You mean the guy who couldnāt get in the squad last week?
Me:
Farke: But we don't develop other club's players. Smith: We do now.
Brother: Norwich have 8 points. Three of those points were because of Gilmourās assist and man of the match performance today.
I came across the story of German football manager Daniel Farke whose team Norwich city just won the English Championship. And his story oddly reminded me of Ted Lasso, so have a look, if you're curious: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/04/18/daniel-farke-under-rated-norwich-manager-doesnt-win-awards/
Farke intentionally let his team play Championship in order to prepare them for succeeding in the Premier League, against the judgement of many experts who said this was too risky.
In the article it is said he "doesnāt win awards - he just wins matches", and he is an avid reader of fiction and biographies.
So there you go, fic writers, if you need some inspiration on coaching football in England.
Daniel Farke Is The German Frank Yallop
Remember this guy? If you follow MLS, you know that face and you know that look. Frank Yallop led a fairly capable San Jose Earthquakes team through one of the worst spells in the clubās history. I use the termĀ āledā very loosely, because the team couldnāt have looked more rudderless when he was sacked. I remember many games near the end where the cameras, like the players, would look to the sidelines for any glimmer of hope only to find none. Theyād just see Frank standing there with either his hands on his face with a look of concern, or his hands in his pockets with his bewildered head hanging down in resignation.Ā I bring this up because Iām watching Norwich/West Ham right now and had a flashback moment when the cameras panned to Farke on the sideline. āOh boy, Iāve seen that look before...ā
Norwichās main problem this season is on full display today, they canāt defend. But thereās another problem that no oneās talked about enough until now: lack of leadership. Iāve watched a lot of Norwich this season, and I canāt remember anyone on the field getting at players, organizing their teammates, trying to galvanize the group when they go down a goal. As a player, if you donāt have any leadership on the pitch, then you HAVE to be able to find some on the sideline. But you look to the technical area or the bench and the coach looks as lost as you are. He has no plan B, and doesnāt appear to have the tactical ingenuity to at least execute plan A better. I feel for the players, I really do, because with a better coach, they wouldnāt be in this situation. Props for style of play, but you canāt win a game. As the ref in Remember The Titans said, āYou kidding me coach?ā

Exact physical opposites
38th minute:
Me: If you were going to make a guy the exact physical opposite of Tuchel, it would be Farke. Brother: I wonder if one of them said that to the other one, which one would be more upset? Me: I was going to say Farke, but Tuchel, although he is tall and thin, might be mad about the hair. Brother: Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Tuchel was caught just looking at that hair. Me: He's so much taller than Farke, he can't help looking at the hair.
Brother: Man, I didn't realize he was that much taller. I only look at the hair so I never compare their heights. Me: I realized I had no idea how tall Farke was, since I just assumed he was short. I also assumed he was older than Tuchel, but he's actually younger by three years.
Bonus: Farke & Tuchel greeting each other at Stamford Bridge before the match:
I know they go way back, but did not expect Farke to be like an excited grandmother welcoming her extremely cheerful ladder of a grandson back home.
