- Daniel gets captured, beaten, and forced to sing during a humiliation ritual. The only song he thought of think of is Ave Maria 💀

- He starts braiding his hair in the middle of the book (me thinks he’s wooing Annuka from afar). His hair is longer in the movie but I think shorter hair highlights him better as a foreigner trying to fit in.

- He kills a moose, good for him (he’s so desperate for validation it’s kinda pitiful). “I like to hunt and eat just like the rest of you. Maybe I’ll become Algonkian myself.” 💀💀💀Our RCTA king ig !!! /j

I know in the scene it’s not Laforgue BUT I think this quote applies to their overall relationship— Laforgue’s self-projection and desire for Daniel to be a faithful man. I like to imagine this illust as Laforgue’s idealized Daniel.
