02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?

He’s most insecure about his blood status. Dane is a mudblood and isn’t proud of it. He was ‘raised right’ by a pureblood family in Sweden and raised to believe being a muggleborn meant he was filth that needed to be cleansed. Durmstrang, the school he attended, isn’t known for their love for muggleborns either and he was mistreated throughout his entire school career, so essentially all his flaws and insecurities go back to him being a mudblood. He hides it though, pretending to be half-blood or better, and passes for pureblood just in the way he acts. However he’s extremely well-versed with muggle pop culture so that’s a dead giveaway sometimes haha.

04. What are their favorite traits about their lover? (one psychological and one physical)

I’m just going to say ‘in general’ things haha. He loves women that are smart and witty and can combat his own fast wit. Dane is really smart himself so he can’t stand to surround himself with anyone that’s slow on the uptake. He also just likes confidence, he thinks it’s really hot. Physically, he has this thing about blondes, but also in general has a thing about nice legs. 

06. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?

Dane’s an asshole so he has no problem with pointing out other people’s flaws and picking them apart which I imagine would annoy Danie, Sadie (holy shit just realized they rhyme) and anyone haha. Also he gets personally offended when someone doesn’t like something he likes. And finally he has this thing about his hair… he’s always touching it and running his hands through it even though he doesn’t pay particular attention to it when he’s styling it, it’s just a quirk.

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

Dane is just a gigantic asshole, plain and simple. He tries to make himself out to be superior to people because he’s so insecure about how he isn’t superior to them. Also, he struggles to have legitimate feelings about people that don’t contain bitterness, and he struggles with ‘liking’ people in general. He doesn’t know how to treat someone he actually cares about and thus comes off as an asshole and doesn’t know how to change it and doesn’t know if he wants to.

10. Is your character more feminine or masculine?

Dane is definitely on the hypermasculine side though there are some traits about him - like his love for cats hahaha - that come off as feminine. 

12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?

He’s one of those jack-of-all-trades types, not particularly extremely talented in any one area, but good at them all. However he couldn’t give up thieving and strategy. It’s his bread and butter, it’s literally the reason he has money at all because he puts himself up for hire to steal for anyone and probably his best attribute is the way that he thinks and the way he puts himself out there on a job - he’s subtly skillful, and it doesn’t show, which is the point.

14. Do they live alone or with family? How do they feel about their family/roommates?

Dane at the moment, lives alone in a flat somewhere (I haven’t decided where). He moved away from his adoptive family in Sweden because frankly he doesn’t like him and they don’t really care for him either. The only roommates he has are his one night stands and fuck buddies.

16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like?

He’s more athletic than the alternative I suppose! He doesn’t work out in that typical ‘working out’ sense but he does exercise, he likes to run to keep up his stamina and hauls around shit often enough on his jobs that he’s built a nice body from it. Also, pull ups and push ups in his flat haha. Dane doesn’t really care for sports though, he wouldn’t mind watching Quidditch but he’s not very interested either.

18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode?

He’s more interested in simplicity than anything grandiose, which is funny considering the way he presents himself. He’d really like some place quiet in the country because that was where his first home was - the home he had with his family, out in Poland. So as long as it’s on the quiet side, near civilization, and cozy he’d be pretty happy.

20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?

Dane doesn’t like very many animals but he practically worships cats and they are the only exception to his dislike for other animals. He hasn’t technically owned a cat until recently though, he used to just always take them in, feed them, and let them come and go as they pleased so his flat is basically a cat free-for-all. Also he just needs all those magical creatures to gtf away from him. It doesn’t need to get anymore complicated than cats. 

22. What kind of tattoos, piercings, birthmarks, freckles, and other such unique physical features do they have?

He has a rose tattoo on his right shoulder but that’s about it. He got it when he was of age to celebrate getting away from his adoptive family and also away from Durmstrang hahaha. He has scattered scars from different times in his school years and jobs during his adult years as well.

28. If your character became a celebrity, what would they be famous for? 

A celebrity? He’d probably be one of those people that don’t deserve fame but got it anyway like the Kardashians lmao. He’d probably be famous for being a notorious criminal but then one of the Azkaban guards was like “dang this guy is too hot to rot away in a cell for the rest of his life” so they release him and he becomes a model. ;D

30. When it comes to the arts (music, film, theater, etc), what does your character like?

Honestly Dane doesn’t care for the arts, at least openly he doesn’t. But he can appreciate a good art gallery. He doesn’t have an eye for it himself, but he can appreciate it. He does however, enjoy film a lot but he doesn’t see that as an art.

32. If your character’s lover offered to take them out on a dream date, what would they want to do?

Dane doesn’t ‘date’ (yet, at least) buuuuut if he eventually warmed to the idea he’d probably really enjoy going to a ball with someone just because it’s all about literally showing off yourself and your date and eating food and having fun and not caring about dumb shit. And then later on, he’d like to be taken back to wherever they’re staying and be seduced. ;D

34. Does your character have favorite foods? (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, etc)

Not really. He’ll eat anything that’s in front of him, but he does enjoy snacks a lot, especially the lunch box crap kids get, hahaha. He loves desserts of all kinds, and any and all things sweet.

36. Does your character have any medical conditions? Are they serious or minor? Do they affect their day to day life?

He has a deep, deep phobia of fire and will go out of his way to avoid it. It disrupts his daily life, to the point he cant cook and refuses to cook. Also in general he’s just paranoid which is probably understandable considering he’s a criminal, but he can jump at sudden movements and even flinch. 

38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc?

Dane enjoys the raininess of London and the United Kingdom and really likes rainy days. He doesn’t care for getting too wet, but likes to stand outside for a little while, and likes to relax and nap or read while it’s pouring or storming.

40. Does your OC have any guilty pleasures they enjoy? Hobbies, past times, music, etc that they wouldn’t want known by others?

Dane is a huge sucker for those chick flick movies and also those tv shows that are typically enjoyed more by women. He watches basically all of that on Netflix. His favorites are Legally Blonde and Gilmore Girls at the moment. ALSO he can knit. And he does. Like all the time, when no one’s looking. 

42. Is there anything in your character’s past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?

There’s the fire of his first home of course, but then also that one time his ass was kicked by Riley Winchester on his first job as a fresh Durmstrang graduate. It made him extremely determined to always be the best after that, so he works even more obsessively hard (and he always worked obsessively hard). He hates losing.

44. Is there a particular event that would emotionally devastate your character?

No, not at the moment. Probably one of Dane’s greatest strengths is that he just doesn’t care about anyone anymore, so it also serves as one of his greatest defenses. Nothing could emotionally devastate him because he’s never been emotionally attached to someone or something.

46. What is some random affectionate thing that your character always does to their lover?

Dane’s not much for affection because he just doesn’t do that wishy-washy shit, so the things he does for affection, he’s not aware they’re affectionate at all. If he notices any self-deprecation going on, he’s very quick to immediately compliment them. “Pffft. Okay well, your legs look amazing so tell me again why you’re worried about the way your waist looks? Jesus christ.” Also he gives great massages. ;D

48. Is there anything in particular that would ignite your character’s jealousy? Or does your character not get envious?

Dane is extremely possessive so just about anything can make him jealous. Any flirting that happens, any secret looks, laughing, with anyone that isn’t him that could be a potential partner, Dane gets massively jealous. He tends to act on these things and isn’t afraid to come off as an asshole which is probably even worse haha. He even gets jealous of platonic guy friends. Because if he starts to ‘care’ about someone he starts to get insecure about his place in that person’s life.

50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say?

Ezra: He doesn’t think he deserves any of the good he has in his life because he grew up having received no love and very little attention from his parents, along with the fact he had so few friends until about his seventh year, and has hurt a lot of people since then. He’s very insecure about whether he’s ‘good enough’ for anything which is why he’s such a hard worker and often overcompensates with cocky confidence. It’s not exactly an easy insecurity to detect because he’s naturally a withdrawn person that gives away very little about his personal thoughts.Dane: He’s most insecure about his blood status. He acts like the high and mighty, popular, amiable, likable guy that goes with the flow and gets along excellently with everyone, but the truth is that he isn’t sure he believes that ‘mask’ that he puts on. He doesn’t know who he really is, he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he’s just trying to be the person that everyone would like best. This weakness is probably easily exploited because Jamie’s character can be really inconsistent and he could get called out for it. 

03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?

Ezra: He thinks his eyebrows are 100% on point (which they are) but also he has perfect teeth. Those are probably the things that stand out to him but let’s be honest he’s really #BLESSED with fine looks all around.Dane: He personally loves his body, thinks it looks great, knows it looks great because he’s usually complimented on it, and is very smug about this. Jamie: Jamie is by nature very humble but he won’t deny he’s got great hair.

Ezra: Ezra has this thing where if he thinks something isn’t up to par with his standards, he’ll point it out, which happens a lot with fashion and the cleanliness of things. He’s a harsh judge in general haha and can get really intense about everything being organized and clean. Otherwise Georgie (@anotherstupidadventure) probably gets annoyed by his clinginess and need for attention like a cat hahahaha.Dane: Dane’s an asshole so he has no problem with pointing out other people’s flaws and picking them apart which I imagine would annoy Danie haha. Also he gets personally offended when someone doesn’t like something he likes. And finally he has this thing about his hair... he’s always touching it and running his hands through it even though he doesn’t pay particular attention to it when he’s styling it, it’s just a quirk.Jamie: Jamie is probably legitimately the epitome of qualities that anyone could find annoying. He can be reckless, and sometimes too adventurous and gets bored really, really easily. He’d suggest doing something dangerous just to ‘pass the time.’ And probably everyone thinks his bromance with Holden Grimes (@walkingrenegade) is bizarre but yolo buddy.

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

Ezra: His biggest flaw used to be that he was an absolute coward and was never willing to fight for what he wanted or for what’s right and that resulted in a lot of heartbreak and hurt and stuff because he kept running away from his problems, feelings, etc. Nowadays though it’s probably his guilt. He can be such a massive martyr about the things he’s done, the things he’s had to see and the things he’s done to hurt people, those he loves and those he doesn’t even know. He doesn’t know how to stop being guilty, but it’s coming in the way of everything in his life: his relationship, his friendships, his alliances. Probably if he doesn’t get rid of this guilt someday he’s going to cut himself off from everyone because he doesn’t think he deserves any of the good he has. Like I said... martyr. Dane: Dane is just a gigantic asshole, plain and simple. He tries to make himself out to be superior to people because he’s so insecure about how he isn’t superior to them. He doesn’t want to face the reality of growing up, and having responsibilities, he always wants to be carefree and without worry. He doesn’t want to figure out who he is, he wants to go with the flow and be whoever people want him to be. So his biggest flaw would probably result in him forcing himself to have no development. However he needs people (like Ivy Croft @characterisland) to tug him along until he isn’t so reluctant.

21. What is one of your character’s biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear?

Ezra: It probably comes as no surprise that Ezra’s worst fear is loss of control because he can be kinda a control freak. He fears losing control of his body (like being condemned to a wheelchair is the stuff of nightmares for him) and relinquishing control of it to others (which is why he’s afraid of hospitals). Also, not having control over a situation is another aspect - like not being able to protect those he cares most about, which in his boggart appears as Georgie or someone else he loves being hurt and him having no ability to save her, etc. Ezra panics when he loses control, like full-on panic attack.Dane: Dane has a terrible phobia of fire because his house burned down when he was a kid and still living with his biological family - which was his fault, ultimately, because he accidentally made a spark with his budding magical abilities and there only needs to be a spark to start a fire, which it did. It ultimately caused the downfall of his entire character (because his biggest insecurity is being a mudblood, and his family literally abandoned him for the fire he caused) and SO it’s resulted in a psychological, irrational fear. Dane freezes up when he faces this fear, and once he snaps out of it - he’s gone, he legit just bails as fast as he can.Jamie: Jamie is deeply afraid of being alone. He’s never been alone his whole life, he’s surrounded by his family (three sisters! like dang) and immediately made a large group of friends once he arrived at Hogwarts. So, he’s afraid of being left by his friends, forgotten. He doesn’t know how to be alone and honestly would not function well if left alone. He’s veryyyyy aware of this. Jamie would probably lose himself, everything that makes him Jamie, if he were to face the fear of being alone, because he doesn’t feel the need to be himself for himself.

Ezra: Ezra adores music. He’s been playing piano since he could sit on a bench and if he hadn’t found a magical talent in the wizarding world, his parents always wanted him to be a pianist. Dane: Honestly Dane doesn’t care for the arts, at least openly he doesn’t. But he can appreciate a good art gallery. He doesn’t have an eye for it himself, but he can appreciate it. He does however, enjoy film a lot but he doesn’t see that as an art.Jamie: Jamie loves theater which totally makes sense if you think about him and his personally for more than five seconds hahaha.

37. What are some of your character’s pet peeves? What are some things that annoy them or disgust them?

Ezra: Ezra’s so anal about things being clean and organized that he hates it when they aren’t. Also, he’s annoying about grammar sometimes and always marks it off on his students’ papers hahaha.Dane: Dane can’t stand obnoxious people and thus also can’t stand dogs because he thinks they’re obnoxiously loud and needy and dirty. Also, people that spit on the ground: gross. Have you an ounce of class?Jamie: Jamie isn’t really annoyed by a whole lot of things, he’s really easygoing, but he can get peeved if he’s misunderstood as a person. There are some things he gets that are easy to not understand about him (largely he doesn’t understand himself haha) but also, he’s not going to appreciate being called a jock even though he probably falls into the category. He hates labels.
